It's not a good idea if Crawford wants to fight Canelo in another weight class than his normal ones (Lightweight/Light welterweight/Welterweight). Canelo lost his match against D.Bivol in light heavyweight ( 179 pounds 81 kg) and Charlo lost against Canelo because Charlo jumped from Light middleweight 147-154 lb (66.7 - 69.9 kg) to affront Canelo at Super middleweight (168 pounds or 76 kg). Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford competed on equal terms at welterweight their unification fight in Las Vegas when they tipped the scales on the 147lb limit, (Spence) while Crawford weighed in at 146.8lbs. So the superiority of Crawford at 148 lbs againt Spence cannot be taken as indication of success at 168 lbs against Canelo. Just compare the body structures of both: Crawford taller and elegant, Canelo of bulky toughness.

Jumping three weight classes is not a good idea: 147 lbs = Welterweight / 154 lbs = Light Middelweight / 160 lbs = Middleweight and 168 lbs = Super Midleweight. The Crawford vs. Spence fight was a welterweight fight (147 lbs). Canelo 168 lbs won't go down. But can Crawford go 'up' 21 lbs to reach 168 lbs for a Canelo fight? Not a very good idea.

This trend is gonna wind up hurting someone badly or worse. Going up 5 to 10 lbs. Is hard enough on your heart, but 20 + for 12 rounds really pushes the limit. Then there's what it does to your endurance, speed, agility, both offensively & defensively as well as the difference in impact. At the very least a fighter should acclimate slowly, going up 1 weight class at a time, so he'll feel the reality of his physical change.
