A video about some very good quality long range 915mhz, LoRa transceivers, supplied to me by Reyax. I tested and got 8KM/5MI range and the transceivers could have gone further! The documentation for these modules is aslo very good and the module is so easy to use. In this video, I do the range test! :D
You can get these transceivers from either me if I have any left, or directly from Reyax. Please see links:

It would be interesting to see a range test with spreading factor 11, and a thinner bandwidth than default 125khz. These two things from what I saw in videos are the things that provide the longest range. There seems to be some sweet spot to it.

Hello, I have a question for you about the reyax module, I'm working with lora for a project , I need to make lora multi-point nodes but your example is the point-to-point connection, my question is: if I use a reyax module as a gateway and other two diferents reyax modules as lora nodes ,they could send information at the same reyax gateway ? or they only function with point-to-point connection?

What type of data rates can you get with these things? I can't find that specified anywhere. I'm looking at these for an autonomous vehicle project, but I'd need a few kilobaud at least. A few tens of kilobaud would be even better.

And this is achieved with the simple embedded wire antenna... Imagine the distance that little thing could do with a nice pair of yagi or patch antennas ? Insane!

We've seen several hundred km with small antennas, so with nice antennas you can probably go to the moon (not being sarcastic)

Can we do a follow up video, please? I couldn't source this Reyax modules in the UK so I got a pair of Heltec LoRa v2, they work great and are the same chipset. They are unfortunately limited to peer to peer links without a LoRa gateway but these Reyax modules appear to be configurable to different addresses. They should lend themselves well to creating LoRa networks. Why not get a 3rd and show us how to network them? I have ordered some now but from the US and that will take a while. Thanks....

my result with AI Tinker RA-01 SX1278 Lora 433Mhz modules (very similar to yours and same copper antenna) while sending a "hello" with an increasing appended number was the following: the sender was going with me out of the apartment while the receiver printed out what it received and was sitting on a table, I made 20 meters going downstairs from a second floor, out of the stairs, an apartment with big bricked walls and a pair of apartments down to the street. Not that exciting but better than nothing, surely totally different result from line of sight transmission.

@korishan
@korishan 6 років тому
I've been interested in LoRa for a few projects. One of them is to put with my mail box so I'd know when I had mail delivered. The other is to build my own dog collar and add in a gps module. Not only would I be able to know exactly where they are at any given moment, but I could even send commands to the collar, like beep and vibrate. Might even be able to add in a voice commands too.

Should make a repeater with them and a solar cell and battery put a few out in the wild your distance would be pretty much unlimited up to how many repeaters you have. Could almost create some sort of "mesh network".

Hi Anthony, Nice test here, unfortunately you overlooked a few things that may land you in hot water... 915mhz is a licensed band in the UK and is used for mobile telephony, in the EU we should be using 868mhz LoRa transceivers to keep it legal. Also if you where using 868mhz transceivers you are also probably breaking the rules as there are duty cycle limitations in this band, transmitting every 1 second even with a 1 byte payload breaks this duty cycle. Anyway I would suggest looking at The Things Networking and LoRaWAN for your next experimentation, this offers internet connectivity for these devices on a community basis which looks promising.
@bajalal8977

I am in europe, Norway which one should i use 2.4ghz, 915mhz or 868mhz. Which one is legell and have longest range.
@korishan
@korishan 6 років тому
Wow, I bet you could of gone around the bend and still had good signal. Maybe you could do another test and on the mobile unit add the oled display so you could see ping times. Instead of having the other unit just send, have the mobile send to the stationary unit, then that one would reply. Measure the time it took for the round trip. You could also send a longer message, like 64 bytes, and see if you get back the exact same message. Which means, another trio of videos ;)
@AntonyCartwright
@AntonyCartwright 6 років тому
Hey Korishan! I might try this! I'm certain I could have gone further... Looking at the map, I think I've worked out a longer route! 8KM / 5MI is nothing for these transceivers! They didn't struggle at all at that range!!! I could have gone further!
