Take a deep dive into SXSW with our Studio Interviews, where conversations go beyond the boundaries of sessions, showcases, and screenings.
Director Gotham Chopra and Bon Jovi members, Jon Bon Jovi, Tico Torres, and David Bryan, on music, their storied careers and the filming of their new docuseries.
“Thank you, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” joins the band in February 2022 and follows their real time journey with its fits and starts as they attempt to chart out their future.
As thrilling as the story of a once-in-a-lifetime talent is, it is even more rare that a legend like Jon Bon Jovi lets the world into his most vulnerable moments, while he’s still living them. 40 years of personal videos, unreleased early demos, original lyrics, and never-before-seen photos that chronicle the journey from Jersey Shore Clubs to the biggest stages on the planet.
The series relives the triumphs and setbacks, greatest hits, biggest disappointments, and most public moments of friction.

So miss Richie being in the band, he brought the bluesy rock sound and him and Jon wrote amazing music together.

Bon Jovi, as a kid because of my a.d.d and dyslexia i was told i was going to be a vegetable and Id always struggled to fight it and if it wasnt for that song I heard "Its my life" when i was 9-10 years old it inspired me to go for what i wanted and even still inspires me today, when i wanna quit i remember its now or never! So thank you for that inspiration! I used to be in slow classes and i worked my way to honors classes and now im still fighting to live while im alive!

He needs to retire before he becomes a meme rockstar to pop star cliche John shanks has single handedly shitted over Bon Jovi music for the real fans no guitar riffs no solos just whoos all time and so much compression it’s become unbearable at times I remember when this man I idolized Jon as a kid never did I think he would become like this even crush album was amazing so was have a nice day and the circle and this house had some good songs on but this is a joke o hear Jon is writing with ed Sheeran wtf is that about he is a legend Jon is he is becoming a joke today Richie left when he knew the ship was sailing and I’m so badly hurt to even say this about the band I loved since I was 10 I’m 30 20 years I been on this ride

@@JH-nj8up you can’t be so delusional how in anyway is that Bon Jovi that put out a song like undivided they have become a joke and it pisses me off as a die hard jovi fan Jon his destroying his legacy unless any of the songs are anywhere better than legendary the only way legendary would have worked if they had a key change in the bridge and quit going with same melody the chords are practically the same even the guitar whooo are three single notes piss easy song to play and also repetive and shit and I am the biggest Jovi fan there is I still have pic of Richie and Jon on my wall I’m 30 and been a fan and seen Jon and band 4 times in my lifetime even went to London when Jon did unbroken song for the soldiers and tried to get close to him but this just does not sit with me Jovi have become a joke because of one man and that is John shanks any die hard will tell you that Jon writing with ed Sheeran says it all does it not he is creatively dead and buried and becoming a meme it’s time to leave the stage he said he won’t become the fat Elvis yet he is becoming everything he said he would not be I hope for his sake he retires or gets Richie back finds a better producer go back to Bob rock shanks is a pop rock country producer at best and even he created some amazing jovi songs but today Jon only cares about radio play and the whole pop stuff is just not what this I once amazing band is Ion Bon Jovi I have love you for years but I can’t take it no more I want a meaningful song not just boring unforgettable same repetitive whooos in your song even make the guitars louder do something that does not sound like you have thrown in towel remember this is the band that gave us the distance and that’s pop rock but it’s catchy and has riffs and don’t get me started on jovi first album I love roulette and what a song but 2020 2024 I can’t get into the guitar part goes no where as a musician mysef I could litteraly post how simple this song is for you to see it’s simple repetitive and if I had not known it was Jon I would know by his voice but melody it’s practically a Christian pop song melody 😟🥹😖I hurt by saying this I love this band but Richie leaving John shanks turning them into whatever kind of music pop this is

I remember being in Washington D.C. as a 13yr old kid and experiencing Bon Jovi for the first time, it was my first concert. It was a love story that I have worshipped and a deep appreciation for each and everyone of these men that formed it.. I love how honest this band has been, I love that they were open and shared the struggles and I love that they have all given back SOOOOO much! Seriously this is not just a good recipe for a band and legacy, its a great recipe for living and life.. I will die being a fan of these guys.. AND......I have to say as a young 13 something yr old Jon Bon Jovi awakened me to the man in general..what a wonderful awakening it was, wayyyyyyyy back then! So much fun!

Awesome: I saw Bon Jovi and the band two times at Gillette Stadium. Both shows were so great. This goes back to 2013. The song "You want to make a memory" I sang to my wife Patti two days before she died from breast cancer back on March 17, 2009. I was listening to " Lost Highway" as I was visiting her driving back and forth to the hospital for 11 days. That CD was my first deep commitment to listening to the Jon Bon Jovi Band. Thank you to all the writers of the song and the band for giving me the song I needed to say goodbye. Can't wait to see this 4 part series. Especially since it was produced by Deepak Chopra's son. I worked for Deepak back in 1993, So, this has all the elements of my past coming together. Memories from the past that played a very important part of my life. I'm sure all of the fans are excited. "Legendary" and " Life is Limitless" are two of the most recent favorites. You want to make a memory, will obviously hit me in the deepest parts of my soul forever and ever. Always.......................... Great job by the interviewer.

Hi from Australia....I was lucky enough to win a competition to meet the 5 original members backstage when Slippery When Wet was NO 1 everywhere in the world! A saw 2 concerts in Detroit ,then I had to do a review of their show as every thing had been filmed and aired on ABC TV Australia. I still think it was a total Fluke. Was only 19 and in 1987. Richie was the sweetest guy.. but I think they all were pretty much overwhelmed by their fame, that Many "things" occurred. Which rock Stars dream of. Would love to have a quick meeting now 40 yrs later as now they are much more humble. I must say they were very nice guys but sadley it was a hello hi goodbye, such a lot happened in those 5mins. I think none of them were over 25. God it was fun. Definitely gave their all . Would love to have a fluke win again . I rember my brother saying they will be one hit wonders. LOL. Joke is definitely on him.😂 Thanks guys for your commitment to creating such great music and beautiful ballads. ❤

I think that it's not the same band since Alec and Richie left the band . The original 5 was Bon Jovi. They had a special carisma, and people's of every age loved them because their musik was changing all the time, pop, rock, shows, fast, guitarsolos, nice lyrics and all of it in one concert. Another secret is that they didn't change any members of the band. As a fan, you want to see your favorite musicians and the whole band. When Richie left everything charged, I'm not saying that P X is a bad guitar player , but it's not the same.. Richie shared and did almost everything, music, lyrics, arrangements, and he was aware of everything that happened on the scene, and if something happened he just fixed it by a nice solo. I think that Jon in one way or another, felt safe with Richie on his right side. I also think that Jon was a little jealous of Richies guitar solos as the people showed that they loved him, and by then Jons ego had grown a lot, and he started to change things that the people loved in Richies performances. I was wondering how he could last so long, but I think it was because he loved the fans and the music he was a co-writer in. But fact is that since he left the music is the same over and over again. It is so sad that things are going to finish like this., but when I think about it, he is doing the same thing with legendary,as he did with runaway when he first tried to be famous = using all the radio DJs. Only different is that now he is using all the events,,canals ,platforms, you name it and you can see him there. As I always say, this is only my own opinions and thoughts ....

In the early 80’s Bon Jovi was the opening band for Ratt and Jon did his best David Lee Roth impression on stage. Just a few years later BJovi was the biggest rock band on the planet and everyone was singing ‘Ooooh, We’re Half Way There’ out of the windows of their Camaro’s. Hugh was writing with Jon and played on the albums during this time as well. They didn't have him on tour mainly for the "image" in Hugh's own words he didn't match the glam image they were going for.

Steve Perry used to disappear after shows to save his voice and the media, and the band, would give him grief over it.

Sigo a Bon Jovi desde siempre. Me gustaría que esta entrevista tuviera subtítulos para poder entenderla perfectamente. Los latinos que seguimos la banda lo agradeceríamos muchísimo.

The guys a billionaire, what more do we need to know. It makes me wonder why bands don’t quietly fade away. Makes me reflect back to the 60min interview with another famous and successful musician/singer.
