I’m from Bradford and I remember the day they arrested him. We couldn’t get into college the usual way because the bus stop was right in front of his flat. There were forensic tents up and police everywhere. Suzanne was found in the river right behind my grandparents house too. Crazy how close we all were to such a monster

My mum worked at Bradford Uni when Stephen attended. She was head of the university library and he was flagged as a person of concern. Some of her female staff refused to serve him if he came into the library and would go into the offices behind the scenes so they couldn't be seen by him. He would make every assignment given related to serial killers (even though other students didn't do that and it wasn't necessary, some links were very tenuous) so he always requested books around that subject and human anatomy but it was how he looked and interacted with female staff that made him very disturbing. Unfortunately they were not surprised at what he had done, but there was nothing they could do. Having a weird obsession with serial killers, being really creepy in his discussions and staring at women making them feel on edge isn't a crime.

This case fills me with horror every time. I can't even imagine the fear...

As a social worker I once had a young client who was a diagnosed psychopath. Like Griffiths, he had morbid interests and enjoyed creeping people out. He had one of the leading paediatric psychiatrists in the country, and she was convinced he would eventually become a murderer. His parents and siblings, who seemed normal, loving and well-adjusted, were terrified of him. He wasn't the result of abuse - it seems he was just born that way. But what can you do? He hadn't committed any crime, and there was no legal basis to lock him up. You just have to wait and hope...

Wow that's insane: a horrifying British murder case that DOESNT end with the killer getting 15 years (with possible parole after serving a minimum term of 35 seconds) 😅

There was also crossbow shootings in London a couple of weeks ago. 2 people were shot, thankfully they have both recovered and the perpetrator has been captured. However, the person’s motive hasn’t been released to the public yet. Crossbows do seem to be oddly popular in the U.K.
