Yeh your not wrong the world would be a different place without religion that's for sure. But it can help some people and give them hope. I went to a church of England school and had to sing prayer every morning. But it like ricky it didn't take long to see through the stories. I was forced to go to church countless times, since I was a kid, because my father's family is catholic. We live in a different country, and somehow my dad never managed to make me go at home. When I was a teenager, I think around 15 or 16, I went to a church and for the first time in my life I didn't just snooze or think about random stuff but listened to the preacher. I was told that Christianity is the only good religion, that neither Judaism, Islam or Buddhism is. And then another preacher said the church is poor and not new anymore, while "someone drove here with their new car" like they were supposed to donate the money. That was the end of it for me. I don't have problem with faith and belief in one or multiple gods as much, because to me, it's more or less spirituality. But I hate church and organized religion. My family is, of course, still faithful, and I don't know what would happen if I told them I didn't believe in God. Sorry for the long comment, just got it out of me.

Religion is a product of ignorance. People have a tendency to believe someone else's version of the truth if they can't think of a better alternative themselves, or are too afraid to question it. Doesn't matter how old you are.

That would hurt the economy. The world needs sheep to be herd and earn money from. By removing the religions, you would lose control of billions of people, questioning why the very few are very rich while they were very poor, praying God for help... Everything is about money. None of the big guys believe in God, they are just thankful to him.

Doryphoros Wrong again. You have once again showed your level of ignorance. Im not religious and i have higher morals and treat people better than most religious people. You dont need God, a book or religion to be a good person and thats where the problem lies. Live a life with good morals, treat people kindly, be considerate and compassionate, help others when you can etc. I dont need a book or someone to tell me to be that way. Its the way ive always been. In fact im more of a Christian than most Christians.

I grew up in a Christian area and most of them were drunks, coke heads or people who were pregnant by the age of 15. Thats not judging, thats reality. Its what i saw. I was an alter boy for 2 years, went to church and catholic schools. When i was old enough to know i didnt need an organized religion to lead a good life I left and went to a public highschool for the last couple yrs. Religious people are the biggest judges of all. They themselves cant even follow their own rules and theyre going to to judge me? Lol. Give me a break. Youre done "my friend".

It drives me nuts how "religious" people keep using the word faith...they dont understand were trusting in proof, nothing to do with faith.

Science is believing in something that can be shown to be true, religion is a belief in something that cannot be shown to be true.

SimBir08 I think it's more about science has the ability to change its beliefs, based off of evidence. Where religion isn't allowed to question its own beliefs.

craig essex Well, yes the term belief isn't used in science. But scientist practices are able to provide opinion or belief, which then can be turned in a hypothesis by adding supporting evidence. So it's process isn't as strict as you describe.
