Ressa received the Nobel Peace Prize for her investigative journalism in the Philippines and work combating disinformation online, highlighting the dangers of social media to democracy globally.
Author of A Brief History of AI, Mike Wooldridge is the director of Foundational AI Research at the Alan Turing Institute and professor of computer science at Oxford University.

If AI has bias, then humans have bias. It seems easier to identify bias and train AI not to engage than it is to change humanity.

From what I see already of AI is that it is making everything homogenized. I watched a video generated from text using AI. It was depressingly boring. What about students copying and pasting big sections of text into their essays? Where is their individuality and personality? The default style dominates worldwide. The teddy bear I have drawn for my identifier here on UKposts I drew. I refuse to use a default image.

lol very unproductive convo about AI. It's like a Wiki entry of what are the current issues with AI but doesn't offer any insights for solutions. Ressa also kept on channeling the convo to what happened to her which was quite annoying.

So disappointing that a person with so much time and experience in the field, who has written so much, can have such a narrow view on what AI actually is (and what is required). No, AI is NOT all about Big Data and Big Compute. Machine Learning is just the 800lb shoggoth in the room which started wearing the AI brand in 2012, and has been slipping-on the AGI brand for the past year.
