Rematch? Horrible call on the ref's part, but by what right would you deny Andrade all the work he accomplished in the fight?. I'm sure he was as surprised and disappointed to taint his win with BS as anyone, aside from Akavov, who has an unwarranted KO on his record. But, man, when grown men lament other grown men's failures, especially when it's a boxer's job to win the fight, bar none, it's worse than Mercanty Jr's bad call.

I speak Russian but will answer in English. It was a sad fight, but Akavov as the challenger, was sadder than the Referee. The ref is a great one usually, just like his father was (Arthur Mercanty Sr). He called a great fight up until the last 27 seconds, where he should have allowed Akavov to потерпеть свое поражение с достойством. However, he was totally dominated in the fight, because he was not willing to risk what it would have taken to win. He had no plan B and wasn't willing to take whatever pain required to be on the inside where he could do his best work. The one round I gave to Акавов, showed that if he would идти ва банк, he could make things happen, but the body shots and the constant peck of the jab discouraged him!

It wasn't dishonest, just dumb. The fight was lost completely for Akavov, who didn't do enough to win. But, to stop the fight was extremely bad judgment.. especially for a ref who will one day be a hall of fame referee, just like his father before him. That is, however, a bad spot on the fighter's record and the ref's in my opinion.
