Now that I'm watching the whole show it makes sense that Michael's branch was doing better in this particular point in time. Jim and Andy were about to get married and were probably taking their jobs and responsibilities much more seriously. That combined with the fact that Dwight was always a super efficient and one of the top salesman in the whole company. So all that, plus the fact that Karen's branch were always playing Call of Duty in work time, it makes sense that Michael's branch was the best in terms of sales and numbers.

Thanks for this comment. Here's a standalone monologue I put together with the same context. This is a great piece to explore timing and discovering words. Written with Steve Carrel's performed beats in mind, but after the temperature section, a different tactic may have to be used as we can't show the passage of time like the show does w/ pasta. David here it is, my philosophy is basically this-and this is something I've always lived by, and I always have and I always will. Don't ever for any reason, do anything to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever- this is gonna sound kinda high maintenance but can I get it like 3 degrees cooler in here , I always think better in the cold. So, I was in the office, and i look over at our accounting division and there is Kevin Malone. Kevin is wearing a jacket I've never seen before. And I call over to Kevin, " Kevin is that a twead jacket", and he looks at me and he says "Michael, yes it is a twead jacket" and I look back at him and i say "I feel the need, the need for twead." Oh thank you. I have to say I am so impressed with the potential you see in me.

The best part of this video which I had seen and what I am seeing now and what I will always see in the future is basically this........the video starts.......and the best part starts......ever.....for any reason.....no matter with whom or what or where or when or how you watch......whatsoever......ever.. Sometimes I start a sentence...... Ever....

It's weird that David didn't just have somebody shadow Micheal or have somebody interview the people in the Scranton branch. Like this isn't exactly the first time he's spoken to Michael, he should've known this would go nowhere 😂

I only learnt about the office some 2 years ago. I did the same thing to my boss in 2011 when she asked me something and I never gave it a thought. I just kept stretching the sentences with no sense and concluded it with some words like permutations and combinations are needed. My boss had a blank face the whole time. I survived that job somehow but a few months later she resigned as she was same as Wallace. I still remember that timeframe and laugh with my ex colleagues 😂😂

Well the reason is Michael’s one hell of a salesman and he understands his sales people highly in that very vertical skillset and nowhere else. Complicated but strong culture of Scranton branch keeps them glued to the branch and their customers are mostly the friends of sales people who have been living in the region for a long time.

I think his branch is doing well because Michael allows the employees to be themselves. Everybody gets to have their own birthday cake, every holiday is a well thought out party, he interrupts the work day with a conference to break the monotony. I think it all just helps shake things up enough so they can be productive throughout the day.
