Back in December 1962 I was playing bass with Mike Dean and the Kinsmen and we played with the Beatles at Bedford. When they came on I couldn’t believe what I was listening to. We played with lots of top bands at the time but these guys completely knocked us out, they were the best. I’m 83 now but still have wonderful memories of that night

I'm 75 and I've seen every major rock band in history, from the Cream, to the Doors, to the Beach Boys, to Jimi Hendrix, to Led Zeppelin, and trust me, this was the single best rock band in history, bar none. No other quartet was able to generate this kind of sustained excitement ever, and none ever will again.

.....NO, the beatles where certainly NOT the single best rock band in history, and certainly NOT LIVE !?!?!.....James Marshall Hendrix by 'A-Country-Mile' all day and every day, and it's not even close.....sustained excitement Woodstock 1969, Monterey 1967, Fillmore East 1969 -1970, etc. etc.....IF this concert in 1964 is the beatles best performance ever, then your in serious TROUBLE !!!.....

The BEST by Far , they Did it all , just listen to Music from 62-63 , The Beatles , innovators they were iconic they were a cultural phenomenon. No other band in history ever did what they did just a fact you can’t duplicate it. God brought them together at the right time. Amen.

I saw a quote from a journalist commenting on their anthology release once years ago, which struck me; "they were the collective joy of the 20th century; having followed two world wars, a great global depression and a time of profound upheaval and change. They were the heat that melted a cold war. The ushers of a new way of thinking and celebrating life." A great way to describe this phenomenon.

They sang in harmony. They stayed in tune despite the screams. They wrote their own songs. They were beautiful on stage, with their smiles and bows and little dancing movements. They were clearly enjoying themselves, and their love and affection for each other was obvious. They were like no other band before or since. Legendary.

Enough practicing and proper counting and the audience doesn't matter. (The same is true of dancers , they don't need music ; they count and keep tempo in their heads . It's not magic , it's training ,learned skill & practice, practice practice.

@@tunesdonebyone3428 Nope. I'm always glad they didn't get back together . It would have turned into a huge war, things would have been said that could never have been taken back. They were still young men when John died and the testosterone was still flowing too high . (If they could have met again at 65 they could have made peace with each other). The competitive rage was still burning . (Yoko hatred was still burning), John & Paul would never have given in at that time. There are no "happily ever afters " in Life. (Memento Mori .) It has ended well enough. Paul prevailed.

The greatest were humble enough not to try. The legendary Peter Green always spoke of the work of Clapton and Hendrix as being on a higher plane than his own. Today, every one of the world's most accomplished electric blues players would disagree - vehemently. RIP Greeny.

My penchant for exaggeration about PG is entirely my own - and you yourself are exaggerating to say it resembles anyone else's. Especially since you don't know me from Adam. How about - my views on PG's talents 'resemble those of some other PG fans' you've encountered? I have to say I'm disappointed that an apparently fastidious person like yourself would be so sloppy, to be honest. Now - back to the music - and my larger point. MANY great artists - Greeny among them -have spoken about deriving their 'style' as a result of being failed copyists of their personal heroes. In essence, they found their own paths as much out of frustration as inspiration in the end. That's all.

I'm 70 and I miss those days so much. The world was crazy in a different way but the music of the 60's led by the Beatles was magical. I feel sorry for kids nowdays who think modern music is even music. The Beatles didn't have the technology they do now. They had to be really talented and great musicians.

I idsagree. Rap and hip hop are just decadent and negative for the most part and all the kids listen to it.. There are some good songs that come out now and then but seems to be mostly country, western which I'm not a fan of. @@DeSlagen8

I’m almost 60 years old and have been a huge Beatles fan since receiving the red and blue double albums as a birthday gift in December of 1976. I’m still listening and watching and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. Beatles forever!!!

@Nick Madness The early stones were never in tune, sang flat in every live show, and were miserable. I do love their early recordings but compare 3 videos of the Beatles from 1964 or so to 3 videos of the Stones and then let us know. Even Mick Taylor said they were never in tune and sang bad and he quit in 5 years. Also, Beatles vocals and music is way more taxing than the Stones music

Obviously people remember their later studio stuff more these days as it's more listenable and relatable for a modern audience, but what's often forgotten is how the Beatles cut their teeth as an absolutely killer live band. By this point the core members had been playing together for 5+ years and had thousands of gigs under their belts. Their first two albums were also recorded in the 2-track era, so what you hear is pretty much the best live take. Being that good, that young, with that much charisma and their own songs. Simply unheard of at the time. They blew everyone away.

I remember the joy and anticipation hearing brand new Beatle songs for the first time. I stared at John Lennon’s eyes on the cover photo of Rubber Soul and felt like he was looking back at me. Incredible time to be alive

I was just a dumb 10 year old when the Beatles invaded the USA and didn't really know what all the excitement was about . only that my older sister had over night turned insane and seemed possessed by some unseen force, that drove her to cover her walls with Beatles stuff and talk incessantly about "Paul" . i'm an old man now and my sister is gone, and i cherish every one of those those memories.

I am same age brother. I wore a crew-cut and wanted a Beatles "wig" and "Beatle Boots". That got flatly denied; imagine that.....and the rest of the Beatles story is some amazing history; that we have the pleasure of being a part of.

@@jackburton2431 What people do not appreciate was that the Beatles spawned an almighty industry of knockoff merchandise which the band had zero to do with but which harnessed their massive fanbase. You mentioned "Beatles wigs" which you could get - but for kids like me for just a few shillings you could get these blown plastic "wigs" that you could perch over your head and pretend you were John, Paul, George or Ringo. You would specify which one you wanted when you bought it. I can't remember which one I had - and it didn't last long - but for a while this kid was a Beatle. Not to mention all the phantasmagoria of other stuff that was created - especially decals (transfers). They were hot property in the early days. I so appreciate my older sister taking me to see "Help".

What amazes me is that John can maintain that chain saw of a great voice without going hoarse. I've never heard another voice that sounds even remotely close to his. Paul's is really unique too. The grouping of those 4 guys and George Martin was truly a miraculous gift to us all.

I was 15 when the Beatles played the cow palace on Aug 31 1965. I was lucky to sneak into the backstage area , there i found the boys playing cards in a small trailer.I pretended to be the curtain monitor and would open and close the curtain for the acts, Sam the Sham and of course my heroes the Beatles. When they were playing, I stood behind the boys. When they finished there set , I held the curtain closed until I got to shake there hands. What a concert. The amount of jelly beans, stuff animals and non stop flash bulbs coming on stage was very cool.

This vid is misleading. The audio has been cleaned up. I have a friend who then aged 17, attended one of their Australian concerts (Brisbane venue). We both still play guitar and I jam with him to this day. He reported to me that apart from beign able to say he was there as a nostalgic novelty, he may as well have saved his money. Given the amplification of the day, after the first 30 seconds, The Beatles couldn't be heard above the din of the girls unceasing screaming. Beatlemania as was, which just had to be experienced. No retelling quite captures their impact & the hysteria. Lennon confirmed this himself on several occasions, reporting their annoyance in not even being able to hear themselves above it.

@@theblytonian3906 The recording though should be coming off the board so it would not be much like they or the audience was hearing at a live performance. This video is indeed evidence they could pull it off live and tightly. Granted their later music was not meant to be played live and that not all went as well as this particular performance it is stunning historical evidence that they could indeed perform live this well..

To add. Their early albums were essentially live performances as they didn't use many if any overdubs etc.. hence they plugged in and played together and what you hear is what you get. Considering how quickly they recorded those early albums is testament. Their later stuff was more experimental and depended on studio magic to get the sound. But still undeniable talent. Just add the producer as a 5th member.

I just gave you accurate testimonial evidence of what a live performance by them was like to experience first hand as reliably related to me by someone I've known for over almost 50 years. That The Beatles were tight live derived of their grounding around the traps in the UK prior to their foundation developed by those grindingly long hours in Hamburg through their return to The Cavern and other venues around the UK until their subsequently presentation polish and promotion by Epstein is already well served by evidence prior to this. No-one can challenge A. their raw talent, B. the alignment of the stars probability of the charismatic mix of those 4 individuals coming together in that place and time. Having lived the era with a basis of comparison since, no argument from me, The Beatles -as was, remain the act to follow & greatest band ever in my eyes since their initial chart success in late 1962.

Epstein was the glue, an undeniable fundamental factor in shaping their image, harnessing their talent productively, availing them of opportunity critical to their initial success and subsequent unprecedented rise of Beatlemania no one could have predicted. Even with all that talent, without him or the coincidence of the time was right, they may remained struggling also rans or a few hit wonders before fading into obscurity like so many other bands of the day. I'm certainly glad they didn't.

To my knowledge, folks like Leonard Bernstein were not given to weighing in on the merits of the songbooks of Buddy Holly or Little Richard. Songs like 'For No One' and 'Eleanor Rigby' changed that. Also from Revolver, I believe it might've been Al Kooper who suggested that without 'Got To Get You Into My Life' there would've been no Blood, Sweat and Tears or Chicago. For better or worse? That's a separate question.

As a young lad growing up in Canada (Toronto) I watched the Beatles for the first time on the Ed Sullivan show and to this day I can still remember sitting in front of the TV literally vibrating and shaking as the performance followed. It made a profound effect on me and I’ve been a music lover ever since. Thank you boys !!

I can totally relate to your story, and can recall thats all everyone was talking about for weeks before the Ed Sullivan show, and we were calling all our friends on our “party phone line” right up to the show. I was 13 at the time and my siblings and I were jumping up during the songs, and we couldn’t believe what we saw and heard, then my father looks at our mother and said” well, they are no Bing Crosby, thats for sure”. I still laugh when I think of it today.

So glad I saw this video, never saw it before. Ok so here is a "sentimental" experience I had about 9 months ago. I live in Bangkok, Thailand with my wife....at the malls they have these huge Guitar shops.....everything you want, Fender, Gibson, ESP, Dean, PRS, Gretsch etc.etc.etc. They also have a huge selection of "Vox" amps too...One day I went in there to look around, this young guy is hooked up to a Gretsch and to a Vox Amp. I do not speak fluent Thai....yet LOL! So my wife comes in, this kid is just playing some riffs etc. I said to my wife "Ask him if he can play any of The Beatles"? Not remotely thinking this kid knows who they are, he looks at me and says in perfect English " No problem sir" and starts playing " I Feel Fine" I about died....then he launched into "Drive my Car" He said to my wife in Thai " Ask your husband if he wants me to play any of The Rolling Stones"??? Oh my Buddah...he was rewarded with lunch from Subway from me and my wife. He was 15 years old...

A billion times better then anything before or since. The raw youthfull energy and charm combined with perfect timing and vocal performance is spite of the noise from the audience and the poor equipment is simply stunning! Timeless like Mozart! There is no better cure for depression then these four guys.

I was lucky enough to see the Beatles live 1966 in Seattle. I was only 10 years old could hardly hear them due to the constant screaming but I am glad I got to witness a band that took the world by storm and still does today.

I was at the Seattle concert also. Tremendous screaming and yelling of their names, but I remember being able to hear well enough to clearly recognize the songs. They put lots of energy and fun into the performance. Being in the same "room" with them was unreal!

I believe this particular concert was in Melbourne, Australia, in 1963. Ringo had just rejoined the band. I was there. It was like sitting in a wind tunnel behind a jet engine. You could barely hear the band above the screaming. It was great though.

I totally agree. I feel sorry for the rolling stones when they say that they are a long lasting band and they are still performing. Even if they played for 100 years they wont. Do what the Beatles did in less than 10 years.

Same. The album Meet the Beatles was like $2.65 at a GROCERY STORE. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. Later got The Beatles' Second Album and that introduced me to Chuck Berry and Smoky Robinson, I still think George Harrison's Roll Over Beethoven is the best ever recorded. They played those early songs a million times in Germany until they dropped, they literally could have done all of them in their sleep. It was 1964, I was TEN, really didn't know any Elvis songs, faintly knew some Everly Brothers. Other than that my familiarity with music was Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer stuff. Went to see Hard Day's Night, was blown away. Have been a fanatic Beatlemaniac ever since. I look forward to hanging out with John and George in Heaven.

I'm 75 now ... this sure brings back wonderful memories in '62 of sitting on the stage with them when I was 14 - 'Church Hall Saturday night dance' - boys sat on chairs down one side, girls on the other hehe. They were doing the rounds in their van like all the bands, but we didn't know who they were then. A few months later they released Love Me Do - the rest is history. I'm 62, never lived a moment when I wasn't aware of the Beatles and their music. Rarely does a day pass where I don't either actively or passively listen to at least one song, so literally tens of thousands of times. I love all forms of music, but there is no one who comes close to what the Beatles represent artistically, socially, historically. And yes, this is the best recording of their best performance. To have been in Hamburg for one of their marathon sets in the early days would have been magic.

There is no one to compare them to. They were above them all IMO better then the Stones. I love Badfinger and Bee Gees also but the Beatles were the still in a class all their own.

My eyes are always drawn to Georgie. A very creative guitar player for his age and time. His ear catching fills along with John's relentless rhythm and Paul's virtuoso bass playing, then backed up by Ringo 's rock steady beat adds up to much more than the sum of its parts. Still amazing to this day.

The Beatles were a big part of my life during my teen years. I saw them at Shea Stadium in New York. We could hardly hear them singing because the screams were louder,lol. Still a day I will never forget

I’m a sixty four year old scouser and can remember sitting on my auntie’s wall waiting for the Beatles to go past back in the late sixties, eventually they came by in their black limo doing about 35 mph, I just got a glimpse of some faces wearing dark shades (don’t really remember who’s they were) but it was really exciting I was only about nine or ten years old 🤔

The Fabs waltzed into my life just at the right time. They helped to make my adolescence bearable. Seeing them in concert in 1965 the highlight of my life. They were a bright spot in a rather unremarkable and at times savage existence. Thank you John, Paul, George and Ringo.

I’m 71 years of age. Saw Beatles on their first American visit, like Wow! I am addicted to them, even now. No other band has eclipsed their genius. When John was murdered, I cried and cried.

I saw them at Hollywood Bowl in 1964. Unfortunately, the girls screamed so loud you couldn't hear any of the music throughout the entire show. And everyone in our section stood up the entire time, so we had to stand up also just to see them.

​@@bradrathernotsay321 Yes thats one reason they stopped touring. Of course it wasn't planned to be forever. But at Shea stadium they couldn't hear themselves to perform properly. But hiw fortunate you saw them live. I grew up in 60s and 70s. What a time for music!!! American cars,Christmas specials, greag economy. We had the best back in those days. And its bittersweet now that im old. But I talk with my siblings what a great time to grow up!!!✌️🎸🎶👍☮️

This brings back so many wonderful memories. My dad was a huge Beatles fan and their music was always playing in our house. I lost him in 68 but bc of him my love for the Beatles has only grown more stronger in my 65 years of being in this experience.

My dad was an old fashioned fuddy duddy, who thought Mitch Miller was music. I'm jealous. But at least some of my aunts were cool. One in particular, aunt Katie, who drove a cool sporty bronzish sedan and wore high cut skirts, helped wear down my dad, so I could wear my hair longer, FINALLY, by 1967 or 68. better later than never ; ) I learned a few years ago that my dad had a crush on my aunt Katie and wanted to marry her, but married her sister instead !! republicans can B sooo contradictory. lmfao : D

what a group of hits in 24 minutes. I'm sure many were like me, going through the entire sixties looking for the Beatles' next hits and more. After a couple years, I basically considered every Beatle album and song to be a 'hit', and they never disappointed me.

No on-stage antics, no light show, no preaching from the stage, no pre-recording. Just playing their incredible songs. And love the respectful deep bows after each song. I'm glad the Beatles arrived when they did so we could enjoy them in their pure form.

75 here ... wonderful memories of sitting on the stage with them when I was 14 - Church Hall Saturday night dance - boys sat on chairs down one side, girls on the other hehe ... they were doing the rounds like all the bands, but we didn't know who they were then. A few months later they released Love Me Do - the rest is history.

One could look at it that way ... as something magical, like 'miracles' ... or you could say four people come together roughly a few hundred million times a day ... and conclude that "the Beatles" were mathematically likely to occur at least once. I prefer non-magical explanations for things that occur in the universe (including 'intelligent life' on at least one among trillions of planets evolving over 13+ billions of years), but to each their own :)

I think they are many amazing things that happened with this band, the fact that they met each other in the first place, that they had a manager who loved them so much, they had the perfect producer for them, all sorts of things that couldn't have been better and all miraculously fell into place. And they changed the world. I love and adore The Beatles.

If you read Mark Lewisohn’s book Tune In he puts all of the pieces together as how various events put them together. If you can afford the expanded version. He did extensive research and only goes up until 1962. It’s a two volume set with the condensed book having over 900 pages. He’s still working on the next book that will cover from 1962- I don’t have the date but he plans on a third book, and maybe a fourth. He is well known and respected for his extensive research and knowledge. He really ties up so much.

@cmeflywva Yeah I know who Mark Lewisham is. What I was mainly pointing out is that it was so unlikely that so many random events conspired to bring all these people together, and they were perfectly suited. How many bands are so talented and can be comedic, clever, sarcastic, who looked so good together, who sang harmony in such a sweet way? It's almost miraculous. It has that magical element to it I think. The scene in Hard Days Night when they're in the field jumping and running summed that up for me, oddly enough. Sorry for my elongated prattle.

10 songs performed in just over 24 minutes, in what is probably the tightest, rocking-est, most energetic set the world has ever known. Bookend this with the rooftop performance, less than 5 years later and the talent and vision is unbelievable. The Beatles will be giving joy and sending shivers down the spines of listeners 100 years from now and we were lucky enough to have shared this time and era with them.

What I wouldn't give to be able to go into a time machine and see this very concert live.. I mean it's recorded and we hear it but can you IMAGINE how this sounded live... The sonic onslaught would have been mind boggling! Being played live and to hear it immediately reproduced from there voices.. LIVE. Omg.. it's so unfair that time machines aren't a thing

Ikr, the Dreamcast was able to drink before me and I grew up hearing their stuff all the time. Still do, actually. Come Together plays on the radio all the time and so does Hard Day’s Night. Yellow Submarine was also one of the first films I ever watched, aside from shark tale and the live action Charlotte’s Web remake

I remember the anticipation of watching them on TV when they first came on The Ed Sullivan Show - I was a young girl watching with my Mom - and when they came on and started singing - I completely fell in love for the first time! I still get chills hearing them! There is truly something magical about The Beatles that cannot ever be put into words 🥰

Love Lennon's raw grainy voice. It's a total opposite of McCartney's smooth voice. Together, they complement each other. Best songwriting duo in the history of rock and roll. George's voice is awesome and underrated too.

@@keithkristi7938 Paul had greater range and training. He was a choirboy, after all, but his was the screaming voice -- as well as the "lover voice". He and John were very competitive about who really understood rock and roll. And then there was George, who managed to find a miracle middle. Without Ringo's deceptively "uncomplex" drumming, always a bit "behind" the "Sound" wouldn't have been there. Again, a miracle.

Musically George's lead drove the band. Typically a compliment for an exceptional bass. George was the under-rated element of the band as he proved with a lot of the music he was forced to caned until he went solo.

Well,actually,it was those who came before them that wrote the Ruck and Roll rule book. Bill Hailey and the Comets are credited with being the first true Rock and Roll band. Then came Buddy Holly,The Big Bopper,and on to the Beatles. And,you bet,..the Beatles are the number one Rock and Roll band in music history.

@@xScooterAZx Well, actually... we all know rock 'n' roll was "invented" before the Beatles: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, etc., etc. BUT, examine the Billboard Hot 100 list for the years 1961, 1962, 1963: there is LITERALLY, NO rock 'n' roll out of all 300 songs (ok, maybe 6). Rock 'n' roll exploded AFTER the Beatles.

Rock and Roll was created by American artists in the mid 50's. By those I mentioned in my other comment. We already had our radios filled with big Rock and Roll bands,and great songs way before the Beatles ever existed. It was already hugely popular. Perhaps not well known in Europe yet though.The Beatles did that. Also,they are only "one" of the greatest bands in the world. The Rolling Stones gave them a massive run for their money. Calling them "the greatest band in the world" is relative. Many people would disagree with you. I have my own preference for that title,but I've no need to mention who. :}

The world’s BEST EVER BAND! A band that sounded soo good n better than over artists because their live performances were like they produced in the recording studio! Pretty incredible given the sound equipment back then n we can listen to to them NOW, and still love the music of their live performance of 60 odd years ago. We are blessed to hear these brilliant lads. A testament to to them is the number of bands who do covers of the Beatles. These cover bands study the Beatles with such precision because it can make them such a popular group. But the Originals were legends so early in their days n their memories won’t ever die ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍

I was 8 when I heard "I Want to Hold Your Hand." Their harmonies and overall sound had an affect inside which last to this day. I'm now 66 and am still mesmerized by their music. They will be remembered a 100 years from now for all the joy, happiness and craziness they shared with the world.

I was raised on the Beatles, folk, and classic rock, it was playing in the house before I was born, it was there from my earliest memories..

I too was eight when the Beatles toured Australia in 1964. At the time I thought I was a drummer, since Ringo was my "favourite", but shifted to bass later on. These days they're all my favourites.

Ah, the harmonies! In 'Hold your hand' everything is in unison apart from the word 'hand' (with a couple of exceptions later on). I will never know if this was deliberate, or simply natural genius.

I love this recording! You can pick out the voices and hear the harmonies. The vocal notes are spot on. We never hear about where they learned to sing. The whole performance is really tight. Brilliant musicians. I’m so glad their music has lasted all these years.

The person who captured this did a great job cutting through all that screaming. That they could harmonize through all of this is a testament to how good these guys were.

@@roybennett6330 Wednesday 17 June 1964, at the Festival Hall in Melbourne, Australia. They did a 3-night stand there, playing two shows each evening. This was filmed by Australia's Channel 9 at the final show on the third night, for broadcast on the channel as part of a TV special featuring The Beatles. Brian Epstein initially agreed to let the channel broadcast just 12 minutes of the performance, but after reviewing all of the footage following the show, he relented and agreed to allow 20 minutes of the concert to be broadcast. In the end, 22 minutes of The Beatles' performance was aired. The only song from their set cut from the original broadcast was 'This Boy'. As the video notes, despite the full show being recorded, some of the footage has since been lost.

As mentioned, the sound quality is a testament to not only the band’s talent, but the audio techs too. So many times we’ve seen their early concerts where the screams overtake the signing. (Shea Stadium) And those tight camera shots on their faces was ahead of its time too. Most other films I’ve seen just had a couple cameras front and center showing either the entire band or a full length body shot. Great camera work, back then the cameras must have been large and difficult to handle.

@@georgeshihanian4946 Yes. They were huge. They also had a tendency to get in the way of people's ability to see the show. They didn't have big screens or other monitors aside as an alternate viewing source. So, you just lived with it if it happened to you.

@@curtiswilliams578 Thanks! Was this the show for Shell Oil? My guess is their stage sound and mix was also very good, allowing them to hear themselves and thus jam together. It is a very tight set with really aggressive guitar and tight harmonies other than first couple in opener. They were probably also glad to have Ringo back after he had missed a couple weeks due to the flu, I think. He had been replaced for several dates by a session drummer, whose name of course escapes me! I think he played with them in Denmark , Hong Kong, and the first few shows in Australia. Excellent drummer, too! Jimmy....

They were the best….however….with the exception of Brian Wilson. John, Paul, wrote their music George Martin arranged the music Brian Epstein managed the band Others produced the music. George Martin who knew the Beatles better then anyone said John and Paul were very good, but the one true genius was Brian Wilson Beachboys harmonies we’re second to none. Wilson wrote, arranged, managed produce etc. he did it all alone except for a few exceptions. Wilson’s music, Good Vibrations, God only Knows, etc was are more complex and arranged the. Any music the Beatles did. The Beatles Help song came AFTER the Beachboys Help Me Rhonda song. The Beatles Yesterday& Today album came AFTER the Beachboys Today album The Beatles Sgt. Peppers & Magical Mystery Tour albums came after Beachboys Today & Pet Sounds Albums. The Beatles always paid close attention to Brian Wilson.

I LOVE the way they so easily trade off the lead in the second verse of "All My Lovin'. " THREE amazing lead vocalists in one band. The tighest, sharpest band that ever played - and just as tight LIVE! Remember everyone (especially you young 'uns), this was WAAY before any computerized mumbo jumbo, auto-tuning, pitch correction, - what they did is what you're hearing!!! And look at them! So incredibly beautiful and sexy and charming and personable. No one should wonder why they were/are the best and most popular band EVER. And, sadly, with the music "industry" now controlling and manipulating every aspect of what we hear, there will never be a group as talented and perfect as The Beatles.

I get so overwhelmed with emotions watching these videos. I was born too late to see them live and just wish I could've been there. Then there's the mixed feelings when it comes to John and George. Taken way too soon. They contributed so much to music, but I'm sure they had much more to give. This group inspired me to become an artist. For that, I'm eternally grateful.

Paul was in his element as part of the Beatles... it seemed very integral to his identity, which was probably why he was the last one to quit the group. And out of the four of them he probably did love the live performances the most.

What a charisma!! What a talent.. Been Beatles fan since 15 y.o. In USSR we didn't have many records of them but somehow we knew every song by heart even though we often didn't understand lyrics.. lol Because of Beatles we wanted to learn English. Still adore their music, always will.. I'm 51.

I'm surprised you were allowed to listen to music from 'western capitalistic countries'. Unless you heard them illegally on short wave. I listened to Polish gents I used to work with here in Australia with telling me they would get into trouble listening to anything that the Russian bosses in the USSR didn't want you to listen to, such was the stupidy of things in the cold war days.

But then, unlike today's kids, my music collection is ecclectic i.e. as we used to say in the 60's "From Beethoven to Bach". in my case, and beyond, except that moronic rap, and techno crap. From country to jazz, blues, celtic, you nsme it. I play in a Celtic band, but sometimes get asked to stand in to play rhythm guitar in a 50's/60's band, another time I could be playing in a country music band. Some people can't get their heads around that. "You should only play one sort of music!" What a boring thought. 😅
