G’day folks. I hope you’re all well and staying safe during these crazy times. With camping banned for the time being, I plan to do a few more gear review and instructional videos. Stay tuned for my next vid where I run through all the gear I take on an overnight camp. If there are any other videos you would like to see from me, be sure to leave a comment below. Bought one after seeing you use yours and agree, it's well worth it. I bushcraft and it's toughness is definitely coming in useful. Not bad for hiking as well but not a pack if you're an ultra-light backpacker.

Many thanks Scotty for yet another great vid. I never paid attention when I saw this pack in your other videos even though it looked good to me at the time. I wish I did because since then I bought a TT Field Pack II and, alas, I have started to wonder whether I should have bought the Raid Pack instead. The Field Pack (75 litres) probably is an overkill for me. It probably makes more sense for me to buy the Raid Pack instead. Size wise this one is good for both bushcraft and hiking. The Field Pack is more suitable for hauling a heavy load than hiking. Thank you again for your excellent introduction on the Raid Pack. If you have time, let us know whether the waist belt provides good enough load transfer to the hips. I am not so sure as it is detachable and can be used as a warrior belt. In such a case it probably is not rigid enough for load transfer. Hope this lockdown at NSW would be over soon. Stay safe.

Nice pack man! Kinda reminds me of my old warrior assault systems x300 pack. Same back padding and torso adjustment. I liked that pack but the padding was a little stiff. So hard to find THE pack! Looks like you have. I have tried everypack under the sun. Some are great and some are crap. I have found that the best size is between 45 liter and 55 liter. Some 60 liter packs are nice too but they just get too big after that. I like vanquests markhor 45. I like karrimor sabre packs. Mystery ranch makes great pack and camelbaks military line is nice too. Like the tri-zip and newest BFM packs. Futura harness is the best torso adjustment i have ever used. Easy to adjust and hugs your body like no other. Maxpedition makes nice packs to but their all too small. Zpacks arc packs are nice and i like ospreys new levity 45 but it could tear. Tasmanian tiger pack i havent seen before fits right in the relm of packs i like. I like internal frame sheet style packs mainly but alum stays are fine too. Gossamer gear gorilla 40 is nice and their silverback 55 pack. I prefer a little molle webbing though for additional pouches. Still searching for the ultimate pack i guess lol..Stay safe man! Hike on!!

@greekveteran2715 4 роки тому
IMHO Rush series especially the 48, are the most overrated backpacks, on the market. On the other hand, Tasmanian Tiger Mission Pack MKII, Trooper or this Raid pack, are the most underrated backpacks.The difference is huge, both in terms of quality, on every single detail and on how they carry heavy loads. Also, my Rush 48 stitching on the shoulder straps, didn't last more than 2 years of normal use. At some point, that backpack looked like I was using it for more than a decade. However, the Tasmanian Tiger, is good as new. If you don't use a backpack much, and don't carry more than 10 Kg, it can be a servicable backpack, but for real use, 5.11 is a joke. I'm sorry I sound like a hater, but that is my personal experience with both brands. I also own Maxpedition, but I like Tasmanian Tiger quality more.They simply are the best IMO.

First time viewer to your channel, I've liked and sub. I have started to look for a more HD bushman orientated pack and as much as I like my Osprey's for hiking I would like a heavier duty pack for other ventures. I had been considering the Tasmanian Tiger Field Pack MKII, but they are hard to find here in Vic.

I agree with the title. Also check out their Mission Pack MKII. IMO...These 2 are the best backpacks out there. Maxpedition for example, are durable rugged bags, but not comfortable. Osprey are very comfortable, but not durable or rugged at all. Tasmanian tiger are both comfortable AND durable!!! They also carry lighter than they are and have some options, that you don't find on other makers. Simply the BEST.

Hey Scotty, TT makes great gear! I also have 2 private Packsacks and 3 for work. For Bushcrafting I had the chance to choose between the Raid Pack and the Savotta Jäger L (40-60 l). I chose the Savotta, because of its simplicity and versality. Especially when I am on tour with my little son, I need to pack his stuff also ->60l. I am pretty sure he will use it, when I am too old for overnighters 😂 it is atomic-bomb-proof... stay save! SAM

Great pack, my only complaints would be the zippers can be difficult to use on the side pouches and sleeping bag compartment. Kind of wish they had left the side pouches off and just put Molle straps there so we could mount our own pouches. As it is, mounting pouches onto the stitched on pouches just makes them flop around. I also found the pack size too small for extreme cold weather when I had to use a larger sleeping bag system that wouldn't fit into the sleeping bag compartment, and there wasn't enough room to carry bulkier winter clothing. Overall a great pack but it has some limitations.
@BushcraftEurope
@BushcraftEurope 11 місяців тому
This comment will make me return it in 2 days when it arrives from Amazon. As all the time I am breaking my head about side pouches. Would rather not have them so I can store bow limbs and fishing rod at least on one side and on the other adding my own pouch. Stupid to have molle on pouches. And yeah, I need something slightly bigger for a winter. Luckily they have options for that also

Would very much like to know as I want to get into off grid stealth camping, cheers :)
@ScottysGoneWalkabout
@ScottysGoneWalkabout 4 роки тому
Hey, yes the places I go allow self sufficient off track bush camping. Though not every national park allows it, so you have to read up on a particular park you're interested in. Also, each state in Australia has different laws. For example, I don't think QLD allows it but NSW does. If you do get into it, just make sure you leave the place better than you found it, so that we can all continue to do it into the future. Hope that helps.

I prefer non designated camp grounds. Or at the very list, minimal camp grounds. Sadly they aren’t very common...to me hanging out at a place that is packed with camper vans and tents and toilets and showers, and play grounds etc isn’t camping...happy for those who enjoy it but it’s just not getting back to nature enough for me. I’m in NSW so it’s time to start looking for some close to me.

A good backpack isn't only comfortable, it can make the load feel much lighter than it is. There are many pieces of gear we use, that can be as good with an inexpensive piece (Victorinox knives for example) as with a more expensive, BUT, when it comes to backpacks, things work differentelly. Which means, that most of the times, you get what you pay for. IMHO, when it comes to millitary style backpacks, nothing compares to Tasmanian Tiger, yes I know, there are more expensive brands out there, that cost double or triple the price but they are not, so much better. Actually I prefer the TT over any other brand, but that's me. If you search for a good BOB, take a look at their Mission Pack MKII. I also like the Trooper and this Raid model they make. Totally deserve the price tag, IMO.

hi man. Looks like you have a serious history about backpacks. i live 3 different places, so i want to sell all my sportbags, all these normal schoolboy bags, old infantry bergens (120 liters) and use 1 ultimate backpack for dayhiking, for everydayuse (laptop, clothes, 2 pair of shoes, couple of clean clothes. etc ) plus, i will start bushcraft, and maybe 2 nights in the nature. what do you think ? For now, i search infos for karrimor sf sabre 45 ( probably it will be enough space with side pockets (70ltr) but simple back system not adjustable) and the sabre 60-100 ( maybe a bit overkill for me, but adjustable and more comfortable back system. ) And now i saw this Tasmanian Tiger pack.... Help me with some advice pls :)
@greekveteran2715
@greekveteran2715 2 роки тому
@@adamhideghety5612 Goodmorning! The size you search for, is more for camping, trekking etc, rather than everyday use, where a 12-25 ltr bag, would be the choice. 1st criteria for your choice, would be the kind of use and also the amount of gear you are going to put inside.That means you have to collect all of that gear, on a bed or on a big table and start puting it, to an older bacpack or bag you already own and know how many litters or cubic space is it's size. That's the only way, to find out what size (litters) backpack you need. Do not copy, what other UKpostsrs do and show in their videos, where their backpacks are smaller than the gear they want to carry and put so many gear in the outer parts of the bag. Never put so many gear outside the bag, all your gear has to be inside the backpack. Tasmanian Tiger (German brand) is one of my favorite brands, their bags are the perfect balance of comfort and strength. I like them way more than Karrimor. Karrimor Sabre is thin and tall, which is a design more for climbing mountains! For better weight destribution and balance, I would suggest a bit shorter and wider backpack.Tasmanian Tiger Raid Pack MK III . Will put a big smile in your face because it's the perfect bagpack at that size, but will also put a big hole in your wallet. Tell me how much money you can spend, to show you the best ones, at that price!
@adamhideghety5612
@adamhideghety5612 2 роки тому
@@greekveteran2715 many thank for the advice :). So the hole in my wallet, the sabre 45 with pouches 170 euro, TT (im near to Germany) is 200-220 euro, and the sabre 60-100 is cirka 280 euro. So the money is not motter in this time. I want a bag, with around 70 litre (must be enough). The sabre 60-100 is to big, i know, but the adjustable system is really confortable, say the most comments. But if i go on a 15 km hiking, with 6 kg of weight. Can i undersize the bag with the straps, or would i look like an idiot ? I like the option, that i can pack more, if i want to. Do you try the karrimor and the tasmanian Tiger to ? what was the comfort ? And the difference between 700 D cordura, and 1000 D ?

@@adamhideghety5612 You get what you pay for. A 170 euro bag, will make a 10kgr load, feel like 10kgr. A 250 euro bag, will make a 10kgr load, feel like 6 kgr . It's the overall design and quality that matters and not how beatiful or not it looks. 700 D is the thickness of the material and Cordura, is the type of material. Cordura is strong, don't choose a bag with more than 700 D, even 500 D will be enough. 1000 D will make a 70 ltr bag super heavy (3.5 kgr - 4 kgr empty). Karrimor is English brand, Tasmanian T. is German brand... Forget Karrimor if you want quality and can afford it. Osprey is another brand I would look at, They make the best hiking backpacks. They are not as durable, as Tasmanian Tiger, but they are lighter in weight Tasmanian Tiger Pathfinder MK II is an 75 ltr bag, check it out ( They get heavy and expensive at that size (70 ltr) I personally, carry a 40 ltr backpack for hiking) Whatever you get, try to learn how to adjust the straps, otherwise, no matter what backpack you get, it won't be comfortable or in some cases, not even able ,to carry a load. There are UKposts videos, where people show how to properly adjust and use such a backpack. As for brands: Osprey is the best for hiking. Aether plus or Archeon (only comfortable) Tasmanian Tiger is the best civilian military style bag, Pathfinder MK II (both comfortable and robust!) Savvota is some of the best military style backpakcs ( Mostly robust, super robust, however, not as comfortable as the others) Those 3 brands, are the BEST at each of the 3 main categories. WISPORT RACCOON 65L is another option, if for some reason, you don't like the other ones, which are the Best.
