thats exactly what i was thinking. iv been watching usa soccer since the late 2000s and i never seen someone bold enough to go through defenders the way gio does.

I disagree, a lot of his strength translate directly into by goals by means of assists. Beating defenders, being unpredictable, great vision and agility. If his finishing isn't great, make him the playmaker instead. There's ways around it, I think on his day he's a great player and can cause danger off the bench against a tired Netherlands

US is missing that extra boost and a playmaker who can pressure defenders with speed. This kid the missing piece imo. We are relying on Pulisic to do all that, be a playmaker and score. We don’t have enough firepower with what we’ve had during group. This kid creates chances and plays near goal which is what we’re missing.

I felt similar in that I wasn't super impressed with much here. Check out the Ricardo Pepi highlights. Those made me more hopeful for some form of attack in 2026.

@@ollend5818 Pepi’s highlights are mostly EASY finishes that almost any striker should finish, with the occasional nice goal thrown in. Reyna has special skills, and you see here that he laid down perfect chances that the players around him flubbed over and over. That’s mostly just bad luck, but the Reyna showed special ability to set teammates up, and he is one of the few USMNT players ever who can charge into a crowded area and confidently keep possession while making a defender or two look ridiculous. That’s not a skill the USMNT has had over its history. Now we have a few players capable of it, but Reyna is the most jaw dropping when he is on. The talent is ridiculous.
