@@JVJF7 Comparing stock to stock? The electronic is definitely better, and the wiring is very clean, love the 1 usb-c and the connectors at the back, especially the BLTouch and Smart filament sensor port. I also like that the whole base unit is all enclosed into one piece, but that could be subjective. I'm also fan of Bigtreetech, their customer support is excellent. I'd say if you are not planning to do a ton of modding, the b1 is a better unit. However, if you want that big community and eco-system of upgrade parts, then yea, the Ender3 is for you.

I got this printer in December, my first 3D printer, and I am loving it, mostly. I love that it has most of the upgrades I thought I would need already built in. I do not have the issues with the surface flaking off, so maybe you just got a bad one. I have had a little bit of adhesion issue, but that could be from my lack of experience. I might try a glass plate. I definitely had a problem with the case fans. Normally, they didn't see too loud, but every once and a while they would get really loud. I think the bearings were bad. It was happening in both fans inside the unit. I ordered new fans from Amazon and we will see how that goes. I do have to work a bit to get the bed level. I use the paper leveling system, but I find I have to print a test print that puts 5 single layers squares in each corner and the center a couple of times to get it dialed in correctly. I have an auto-bed leveler on the way and hopefully that will simplify that process.

Thanks for the great review! I purchased one as my first printer in late November as it was around 230 USD during Black Friday sales... this made all upgraded features you mentioned basically free. I did not encounter the problem of bed paint coming off so far (mostly printing on PLA at 60° bed temp). And yes in the near future I'll probably upgrade internal fans to Noctuas. To answer your question I think there were a few reviews of the pink (earlier production?) model on UKposts about 4 or 5 months ago (Teaching Tech comes to mind).
@ModBotArmy

No kidding! I am happy that the bed has not been an issue. I did 60C as well so and wonder if they changed things up or if mine may have been faulty. I remember the pink ones as well and although I think it is cool to have I really prefer all black haha. Personal preference.

I'm looking at a few and the B1 popped up, I wasn't even looking at it, but I'm glad I found it. I'm a "newbie" just looking to get into printing stuff for friends and me, I didn't really want to buy a printer and then spend months "upgrading" it just to make it work right. The B1 seems to hit on quite a few reviewers "good sides" right out the box. I think you're right, it did just "fly under the radar" in a lot of ways. Learning just how to 3d print is enough of a learning curve without adding "knowing" what to replace on your machine just to make it work right or better.

Great video! I have wondered why this printer isnt more popular too, the first few times I seen it every video I seen of it was comparing it directly to the Ender 3 v2. I think that is why it isnt more popular, if you ask anyone in the community which printer to purchase 80% of them will tell you an Ender 3 of some sorts and the other 20% will tell you to get a Prusa Mini. Yes you compared it a bit to the Ender 3, but it was really nice to see a video about this machine that focused more on this machine than the Ender 3.

Which things would you like to see more of? I feel like I covered the specs and my overall experience with it which is typically how I do reviews. @@ModBotArmy I thought you done fantastic and covered it perfectly. Other UKpostsrs videos I have seen who covered this video spent more time talking about the Ender 3 than talking about the B1. So it was refreshing to see that in your video you mentioned the Ender 3 no more than it needed to be mentioned. So my comment wasnt about what you could change, I am pretty blunt and would have told you from the start if I thought you needed to change something haha. My comment was about how you done a much better job of covering this than other people who done videos on it. If I have to be nit picky, it might have been nice to see how easy/hard it would be to replace the hotend with that usb c cable. I am not going to buy a new printer any time soon, I have too many as is, but I could see how someone else in the market for a printer might want to know that.

I have bought the machine under a week ago and still waiting for it to come. I was first considering the Creality Ender 3 V2, but then I found the B1 and researched a lot about it. I found that these two machines were about the same, however the B1 had some features I really wanted for my first printer. Like for example the touch screen, usb input, easily accessible upgades (bl touch) and magnetic build plate as well as the better board SKR V1.4. I then called a proffesional shop only selling 3D printers, upgrades, filaments and services. They received a B1 for free in mid 2020 from Biqu, and have since then tested it out a lot. They actually recommended that to me over the V2 even though the ender series had a lot of years in the backpack, including a huge community. I hope it was the right choice and really looking forward to try it out. :)

@@hobysta I still think the Biqu is quite worth it. It works very well and is still very easy to upgrade, compared to Creality’s machines, since to be able to upgrade their machines properly you need a BTT motherboard. However, if you want a direct drive hotend from the getgo, you which is an upgrade you will make at some point on the Biqu B1 (I did), you can also consider the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro. If you are feeling adventurous, you can also go with the Biqu Hurakan, which comes with klipper. That makes the printer super fast as well. If you want a more detailed explanation why, we can consider writing over email. ;)

I bought an Anet A8Plus. It has a larger print volume and I'm not sure at this point I'd want to give that up but? The Biqu is far advanced considering the 32 bit board alone. The overall engineering of this unit is refreshing to see. The Anet, took me a significant amount of time to build. The instruction set was insane as well as the packaging of nuts/bolts/etc... and it was painful for a first time 3d printer owner/builder. Given all of the above (the wiring alone in the biqu is so much better) if I made the choice today vs Nov 20, I'd choose the biqu.

I wanted a BIQU B1, in fact I ordered and received them from Microcenter. Unfortunately QC is not a strong suit for BIQU, as you would notice the "them" in my opening comment. The 1st BIQU Z axis problems (probably my fault with the coupler) and a bad card reader (not my fault). The 2nd BIQU bed heating problems would throw a fault when the bed failed to heat. I checked the switch on the power supply to insure it was at 120v, it was. I expect when I buy something new I don't have to tinker with it until I want to. The 3rd BIQU the bed heating problem occurred again, this time I checked into the problem, a blown fuse on the motherboard that controlled the heating element on the printer. I informed BIQU but no avail, they just wanted pictures (which I provided) and did not help AT ALL. The problem was a known one according to some on the BIQU facebook forum. The B1 uses micro fuses. I replaced the blown one hoping it was a defective fuse, but, alas it was not. After a 12 hour print it blew again, and that was that. Microcenter paid for the return shipping on all three printers, so I wasn't out of any money. But the time and frustration of having failed printer after failed printer was too much for me. Microcenter had the same price for a Ender 3 V2 shortly after my return of the 3rd failed BIQU. I jumped on it, and the Ender V2 is now, as I type this, printing the 2nd Masterspool (20+ hrs total print time) reliable as my Ender 2 Pro (my 1st 3d printer). Features are great, but they aren't features when the machine doesn't work. The Ender 3 V2 just works, and that's what I need. YMMV.

The obvious next step would be go to the 006 with the screen and vat, but I have been considering FDM printing as size counts regardless to what women say. Do you think this would be a good entry FDM printer so one one with limited experience or do you think that the oo6 would be a better investment even though it is double the cost. I've never heard of this printer. I like the high resolution test prints. It shows me what kind of detail the printer is capable of. One can always print at a lower resolution and a larger size to see how fast you can go, but since I plan on printing at least a few miniatures for RPG gaming (I'm looking to buy my first 3d printer) this is helpful to see. I am currently researching to buy my first 3d printer. My budget limit is around $400. I've decided on a filament type printer as opposed to resin printing since I want to be able to make not only miniatures for table top RPG's, but functional parts for around the house. I've been seriously considering the Artillery Sidewinder X1. I found the really large build volume very attractive. However, upon further consideration I've decided I probably won't really need that much build volume most of the time and the increased print speed available would be worth the trade of for build volume I would rarely use. I've been trying to figure out what I should purchase and would welcome any recommendations. I'd like something in at least this build volume range, namely 230x230x250 ish at a minimum.

Am currently looking to get my first printer. I've heard of the B1, and it was a serious contender. I've decided to get the Ender-3 V2, because I believe I heard the magnet bed tends to de-magnetise after some time on the B1. Other than that, I hadn't heard of the bed colouration coming off with prints before. It seems maybe BTT could look into the quality of the print bed a bit more.

I bought the BIQU B1 in late october 2020. I agree with this review and it's conclusion. Once the B1 is up and running, It is worth the price. Since october it seems a few improvements have occurred. Especially the part cooling duct. It's now a clear cast part, where earlier it was a low quality 3D printed PETG item. My printer had some issues out of the box: 1. Part cooling duct was broken. 2. The main board and display firmware had an early version with major bugs (eg. the Z axs didn't move). A new version was released in September but not installed in mine(late October). 3. The hotend heatsink fan did not work. 4. Several of the v slot wheels had noticeable flatspots, affecting the travel smoothness of the axis. The part cooling duct could be glued, and a new was printed. I flashed the printer with new Firmware, and everything started working great. The non working fan was not assembled correctly, but it could be pushed property together. The V slot wheels was replaced, but the original flatspots on the wheels, did not seems to affect the prints in a major way. From my point of view the only thing lacking on the B1 is the extruder. While it is indeed a decent metal extruder, it tends to skips somewhat when printing at 60mm/s @ 0.3 layer height. I would recommend getting either a cheap dual drive extruder, or a geared extruder like a BMG clone as a good replacement. This was my first 3d printer, and beyond the initial quality issues (that may have been fixed if you buy now) i have been very happy with the print quality. The build time for me, was a lot more than the suggested 30 minutes. More like 2-3 hours, but I'm very pedantic squaring and checking everything before final assembly. I have yet to experience my first failed print that is not due to user error.

Wow thank you very much for the feedback. This is awesome to hear and I am glad that they have improved the machine and listened to feedback. It is possible that it took a bit longer since I did not time myself and I recorded quite a bit of it which adds significant time to the whole thing. Someone commented hear that their BX direct drive is a drop in for this. I am not sure that this is valid but if it is I would love to install it and perhaps make a video on it.
@Ealen75
@Ealen75 3 роки тому
@@ModBotArmy It may be that the BX extruder could fit on the B1, but I doubt it would do so directly. The reason is the BX uses an HDMI connector, where the B1 (as you point out in the video) uses a USB C connector. Personally I would find it quite a challenge to plug a USB-C cable into a HDMI connector, and expect it to work afterwards. However the BX extruder is available as a stand-alone extruder (BIQU H2). It seems this version does not include the HDMI connector. The chances are therefore much better for the H2. I guess a suitable backplate could be designed/printed, and the original USB-C connector pcb from the hotend could be reused. Designing a new cooling fan duct + cooling fan is necessary, as the H2 does not seem to have one. The H2 looks like a brilliant direct drive hotend, but at a additional $90 it's probably better to go directly to the BX, if the direct drive hotend is a priority.

Budget: Anycubic Mega X: 300x300x305 build volume, heated bed, steel frame, 0.002mm Z-step resolution, 0.0125mm X/Y step resolution, filament run-out, Bowden feed. X-axis uses 20x20 v-rail, so Ender/Creality hardware is a great fit! The $35 PrinterMods V1.3 plate fits perfectly...lighter and stiffer than the original carriage/housing. No speed demon, but a full size Mando helmet prints in one piece. $349 MSRP. * Yeah, it's noisy out of the box, but for the cost of a 2kg roll of PETG, it will run quietly for years. TCM drivers, better fans... Capricorn tubing, replace the pneumatic fittings with collet-clamps, and I got retraction down to 2.7mm. Rewatching this video many months later. As someone who now owns a BIQU B1, I can deduce the following: Your SSS was a bad batch. Mine has not flacked after over 2 months of daily use. The side fan is not to load for me, properbly because I used to have an Ender 3 in my room printing away. Currently I have the Ender 3 and its big brother, the Ender 3 Max chucking away in the room next door. One of the things I like about the BQ B1 is in its software it has assisted bedleveling, 1] for tuning the knobs, and 2] to check your bed mesh leveling. This is fast and indicated a slight raise in the centre of my buildplate, of about 0,1 to 0,3 mm in total. Currently I am printing SBS filament on it, without an issue so far. So what is my verdict? I think this is a better printer than the standard Ender 3 for ease of use. My Ender 3 blew its motherboard after over 3 years of use, so it now has a big tree motherboard with silent stepper drivers :D. But just replacing the MB shot its price up to more than what I paid for the biqu b1...

You really having me doubting what to do now! I was saving up for an Ender 3 V2 but that won't be in stock for at least another 3-4 weeks (and of course the money is burning a hole in my pocket lol) but your review makes it sound like Biqu looked at the Ender, said "hold my beer" and improved on the V2. What I find especially interesting are - the light built into the hotend, so no messing around with wires and fish eye led rings - the single USB C cable design, nice and clean! - easy install of BLtouch, which sounds like a pain in the a$$ on the Ender - hotbed AND flexible build plate If allowed, can I please ask a few questions that hopefully help me decide? - how is the noise compared to the Ender? I have only my 12m2 livingroom to put it. - is it really smaller than the Ender? It looks a lot more compact. - the included spool holder, does that hold 1Kg spools? - It's a relatively new printer, the support community for the Ender is huge. Do you expect something alike will develop for this printer? If you had to put a grade on both the Ender and the Biqu from 1-100, how would you rate them? Thanks for the review and possible ansers! Edit: bought the Biqu B1, it’s a fine machine but I hate the bltouch with a passion. There’s a nice community on Reddit, r/biqiB1, as well as a Facebook group. So far, the mods I did: bimetal heatbreak, good PTFE and connectors, open parts cooling fan design, z-screw support and knob, PTFE guide for filament under filament runout sensor, bltouch cover, and the biggest: I put an Arctic F12 TC in the housing, and disconnected the stock fans.
