part of that is how one treats the pack everything from a school bag to a military full gear combat pack I have had the packs stay when and where put ... sure after time the stuffness works out of the material ... THAT is when you reproof your pack and starch those spots back to stiffness ... basic seasonal maintenance

I can appreciate a person wanting to produce things locally, to support local industry, and the willingness to reduce profits to produce goods domestically. Good on you. That's not to take away from goods produced cheaply overseas--there's plenty of quality manufacturing in Asia--but domestic craftsmen need the support of businesses to keep that industrial knowledge and manufacturing capability going right "at home."

Good Evening from across the pond in Nashville Tn., have just started watching your channel as well as your dads in the last month. As a carpenter and hunter/ fisherman and avid outdoorsman I truly enjoy the DIY’S and the bushcraft building. I have learned a lot from Graeme about different fishing techniques and rigs that we would of never thought to use here in the states for the species we target,Flathead and Blue Catfish as well as Carp. I’ve always wanted to vacation in England on a pheasant or grouse shoot, and since watching your channel I now want to do a fishing vacation there. My Aunt Chris, whom has passed on now, is from Braintree and since I was a child she always peeked my interest in England. By showing me letters and photos from “back home”,as well as introducing me to the BBC programs such as Keeping Up Appearances,Eastenders,Are You Being Served etc. But as an American stuck here during this C-19, I’m able to see the English and Irish country side through your channels. Thank you for all the hard work and videos you both put out,and congratulations on becoming a dad Mike and a Grandad Graeme.

Excellent job Mike. I see a number of comments on here regarding price, and it just shows how dependent we've become on Amazon, and Made in China rubbish. A quality, bespoke item is going to be dear, especially if it's made in country, and the fact that it's been designed by an actual bushcrafter, makes it a bargain, as it will work, and last a lifetime. Great vid, great products and made in my own country. The big issue for me therefore will be the pricing of all that kit. As you told us, they are made by small, even tiny 'companies' so I dread to imagine how much each item costs. In fact, I don't even want to know. Someone's comment has already assured me that the pricing is way OTT in comparison to other products. Well done for achieving your dream of branding your own products but they certainly would never be for me. Each to their own and fair play to all who can afford British-made products. I worked for a British manufacturer in the audio industry and I was STUNNED by the pricing of our products. Oh well. Well done again, TA Outdoors man. (Can't see your name advertised anywhere)

Outstanding pack and great design, it has all the features most people will need. Even better that you designed it for your needs. If you're open to suggestion, I have one minor one: add a strap of webbing, maybe the same the front straps, to the bottom of the center "axe sleeve" to create an open bottom pocket. This will increase the overall storage space and allow you to choose between using it as a storage pocket or axe sleeve, whichever you need for that particular trip. Thanks for all your great videos -- keep doing what you're doing.

The common 1L pop bottle makes a good canteen. I live in the desert. I don't leave home without water. My pack has a pair of drawstring pockets in addition to the classic 3 pocket cluster that are a perfect fit for my canteens. I don't buy packs with zippers. They give out in 2 months. I save brass Levis zippers from scrap jeans and sew them inside the blown plastic zippers, but it is an arduous repair. I want drawstrings or I don't buy. I love your webbing reinforcement of the drawstring. Great innovation. All my packs tear there. Durable nylon is great stuff. You might want to give cotton more consideration. Yeah, it frays all to hell in 5 years but a pack gets a lot of handling and use as a pillow, and cotton is more comfortable. Knew a guy who preferred natural fiber sails on his live in boat. The plastics have obvious advantages. He said the cotton or flax or whatever gave him a great sense of comfort. Not as strong, shorter wear life, have to dry them often, but worth it to him. From the supplier viewpoint, another sale in a few years. I don't throw out the worn out packs. They still hold laundry or mending and such. Hard to part with an old friend. Alice is the bachelor's wife. PS A combination draw string and flap on pockets might be good. More versatile. Drawstring at the top leaves an entry for rain. Sleeping bag zippers are more durable if you must use the damned things. Milspec are metal, but the plastics hold up ok. I just don't want to be making high tech repairs back of beyond. Your price is off putting. Mil surplus may not be ideal, but it doesn't break the bank. Think about sales and advantages. You have good ideas. Your prices reflect custom making. Offer a catalog of designs and custom make what customers want. Make by cottage industry. Patent as you go. Make sure it is international or it isn't worth doing. Let your customers help you design. There once was a college with new grounds and everyone was after the pres. to pour sidewalks because the muddy tracks were unsightly. He refused for some time. When the paths became evident, he poured where the people had been walking. If you lay concrete where you want, the public responds by cutting paths where they want. This method saves unsightly dirt tracks showing up after the job is done. Now the oriental export business is showing it's flaws. I made an order last spring that has yet to show up. The longshoremen quit when the flu showed up. I understand the port is crammed with ships. I need a bike but can't get one. Once the Chinese see your design, they may knock it off. You could have them make part of your run. Can locals compete? Well, if not, can you draw a happy medium? Pass around a few for free to club types. Get them used and seen. Your brand is an ad for free exposed by travel. Make it big. Don't hide it like you are ashamed of it. You will find in time salesmanship pays you better than craftsmanship. Selling a product you are proud of is better for the spirit. Good luck. Mind the odds.

Well done Mike - it’s great to do what you really want to do. Looks like great kit. Obviously designed through experience. And it’s brilliant that you’ve gone with local craftsmen rather than getting cheap crap from China. The only really minor change I would make is that I would put the flat pouch inside the pack on the other side of the pack - that way if you put a plate, cutting board, grill etc it won’t dig into your back.

Two suggestions that come from military experience: one strap should have a quick release, so helpful when you want to unload at the end of a long day, or if rushed to remove (as in hunting situations); also, the cover should have a zippered pocket for small things that you want to access without opening the bag. Otherwise, super design and fabrication. Congratulations! From Canada.

Love the packs, and would definitely consider getting one if they weren't already sold out lol. Perhaps for a version 2.0 theres a few things I personally would consider; - I'd look at removable zip on side pouches (u zip style), to allow some access behind to slide down an axe/folding saw etc. I think this would give a bit of extra functionality. - A hydration bladder tie off point in the inside of the bag in the small compartment, along with a feeding slot and a clip/tie down point on one of the shoulder straps. - some kind of small waist belt just for added comfort. Great pack mate, hope to get one in the future!

Nice packs and pouches. Well designed. I can tell you are well chuffed with these. They will sell like hot cakes i'm sure. Next year there should be lots of 'Show us your TA trekker pack' videos from those who buy them. 😀

Love that pack! I would l like to see a larger version of it. Not a huge 80+ liter pack, but a pack that has room for more than this and has a hip belt/strap.

Nice stuff Mike. Looking forward to seeing you using this in the field, which will give a better idea of its capabilities.

Totally awsome, that this, obviously very new designed, backpack is no longer hidden from the woodsmen! 😊

Brilliant! You guys have worked up an amazing piece of kit there, I'm really impressed. I do have a few suggestions for improvements, though. 1: Put larger loops on the back corners of those pouches, so that you can attach them to a belt or to a shoulder strap, or even molly style to the outside of the pack. 2: Make the rigid padding for the back detachable, so that it can be used for a dry seat when you get to camp. 3: Make the stool cover much wider, so that large guys like myself can sit down without having our knees up around our ears. Hope this helps.

This is so cool! I hope to get all your stuf because I like to help the "little guys" and you put a lot of thought into this stuff! I plan to get them for my 3 kids and my self. I'm so excited. I hope to get them before camping this summer.

Thank you, Sir. I am in the process of sewing together a rucksack copied from the Frost River Isle Royal Senior, but you just gave me some new ideas on what to include. The only issue I see with your pack is the zips... which overtime like snaps tend to fail. It's just a thought and personal preference. Keep the good content coming. Cheers

Unfortunately just bought a new back pack otherwise I would have been in there. Very well done for making it a British product. Wish you good luck with this.

Some lovely features here, would love to try this out. Thank you Mike. I particularly like the KISS principle and you have made a system that is simple without being cheap or ineffective. The proof will be in the hard yards of use, and it looks like this will take a beating. Which I like.

Very similar design to the canvas East German military surplus pack I bought about 20 years ago, for about $10. that I still love and use.
