Lyrics:
Who's gonna tell you when
It's too late?
Who's gonna tell you things
Aren't so great?
You can't go on
Thinking nothing's wrong, oh no
Who's gonna drive you home
Tonight?
Who's gonna pick you up
When you fall?
Who's gonna hang it up
When you call?
Who's gonna pay attention
To your dreams?
Who's gonna plug their ears
When you scream?
You can't go on
Thinking nothing's wrong, oh no
Who's gonna drive you home
Tonight?
Who's gonna hold you down
When you shake?
Who's gonna come around
When you break?
You can't go on
Thinking nothing's wrong, oh no
Who's gonna drive you home
Tonight?
You know you can't go on
Thinking nothing's wrong, oh no
Who's gonna drive you home
Tonight?

I was a lifeguard at a swim club when this song came out and for some reason this song is locked in my brain at a moment as a high school teenager. It was early in the morning before the club opened, and I was vacuuming the pool. The sun had just come up and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was going to be a perfect summer day at the best job a teenager could have in the summer time. I had the music on over the pool speakers and this song came on and I remember having this peaceful feeling as I stood there quietly enjoying the early morning silence with this song as the backdrop before the day got busy. I won’t ever forget that moment and I think of it every time I hear this song. RIP Ric and Benjamin. Your music lives on in memories like these. And, I too had a Walkman……

We ended up later taking care of her other two kids. She finally got clean and can't stand to be without her kids. She is engaged and had her last baby who doesn't know what it is to be away from mom. The four and two and a half year old are real close to us like our own kids. I just turned 73-years-old, and very much appreciate the music from the late 1950s through the 1970s but there's just something about the 1980s music that can bring about such great memories of that period. It goes beyond nostalgia and wistful sentimental...very difficult to put into words, and Eddie Money, The Cars, and all of the great musicians/bands of the '80s made it such a great era.

@@johnd5931 I started to hate the direction music was heading towards in the 90s ... and I think I'm proven right, look at the state of music today, the rot began in the 90s ... Grunge did not end the 80s style of music, its actually one of the genres created during the 80s (Meat Puppets was in their prime during during mid-late 80s) ... what ended the 80s style of music was the intrusion of rap music and the boy band craze ... I'm fine with rap as a genre but it began to be seen as a necessary part of a pop song which leads to the dilution of the flavor of the song .. and boy bands tends to produce shallow sounding music as the music scenes loses sophisticated atmospheric vibes that made the 80s music scene so great ...
@88feji

@@poom641 I would argue that 80s fashion were actually more imaginative and interesting than later decades including today ... Is there even any distinctive style in the later decades ? Sure, 80s fashion were not as practical as today's fashion but being practical is not what fashion should be about, being stylishly memorable is what it should be about. Great fashion should reflect the mood of that period of time and the 80s fashion were the perfect marriage with the songs, movies and personalities that it produced.. The worst sin in fashion is to be forgettable and indistinct, its also about not forgetting to have lots of fun ... you can never accuse the 80s of being boring but I cannot say the same about any of the later decades ... its something all the later decades should learn... think about that.

My dad used to love this song, he had it on cassette he'd play in his car really often. I've had this on Spotify since I got the app.. my dad passed away in July 2021.. he was diagnosed with cancer on the very last stage and the doctors couldn't do anything cause it had spread to his lungs, kidneys, liver, bladder and arteries.. This always reminds me of him now.. brings tears to my eyes cause how much he cared.. He'd always picked me from work, dropped me off and we'd talk about everything and anything. He'd stay up late waiting for me when I was out for dinner "who's gonna tell you, it's too late" He would talk to me about the issues we faced financially "who's gonna tell you things, aren't so great" And now that he's gone I can't "go on thinking nothing's wrong" He was always there when I was broken "who's gonna pick you up when you fall" "Who's gonna pay attention to your dreams?" He never had me spend anything for anything other than the things that I needed and wanted I had everything I wanted cause he was there for me. For us. 😭 He paid for my education all the way through to the end. And I feel like I wasn't even able to make up for it. I'm happy I got to spend his last days right by his side. He held my hand so tight every time in the last few days, he was unable to speak but I always felt like he wanted to say something to me.. May his soul rest in peace. ❤️😭 This song shall forever remind me of him. Even though I know that's not the intended meaning behind the video or the song but that's the beauty of the song, it could translate to a specific thing for the different audience.

Hello, American audience, I want to express my gratitude for this wonderful music performed by the voice of Rick Okasek, maybe I could be wrong, sorry if that's not the case. Eternal memory to you, man, and thank you for the contribution you made to your career, especially for the drive that made this hit international. We love you even from Russia, friend. This melody is inspired by romanticism and lyrics that resonate in the soul of every person, and the atmosphere of that America, which for me was and remains the cradle of humanity. We will all miss you. Eternal memory to you and live in paradise, you deserve it, brother, you deserve it! And, of course, I express my sincere gratitude to Benjamin Orr, who played the vocalist in this video, I love you guys very much! It's a pity these two lovely guys aren't here, but I know they're both in heaven and singing with the angels. There is no death, I know that for sure, but human love is ETERNAL!!! Guys, you can be sure that there, in paradise, you have already immortalized yourself during your lifetime!

The singer is Benjamin Orr the bass player of the band. The model in the video Paulina was his wife in real life. They lived together until he passed away
