Nobody is a square fan until you try one. Then it's hard to use other watchs. It's just pure comfort, doesn't matter if it's winter or summer (never gets sweaty) DW5600 is my daily work watch. I work in a factory for automotive components and not a single issue with it, except some tiny scratches on the crystal. And for the weekends, I get the GW5000U.

5600 was my first G-Shock. 5 months later, I have 8 G-Shocks ! However, favorites of my G-Shocks are AW-500 and GBA-800 (purely because of their looks)- I wear these the most.

Nice vid. I wore a G Shock for a good majority of my military career and still do. I now own a GW-M5610U-1CJF and it’s a great general purpose daily. I know the official drop rating is 10m, but I saw a video not long ago where they dropped squares from a helicopter from a height of 30, 50, 70 and 100m. All survived 30m, half survived the 50m, but at 70m they explode.

The square g, the watch that made me realize I’m in love with watches. I have the gwm5610 (not the updated version, unfortunately) and it’s probably my favorite watch. Surely the one I wear the most. A real Icon, I agree!

I have the GW-5000U with an OEM combi and bull bars from J&K. Just a killer watch and a great grab and go for whatever yard work I am doing. Truly a great beater with a premium feel.

@Realidealgear I'd like to say helpful, but I'd be lying. I will say they sit low on there, and I've never caught them on anything. I think it adds a cool, tactical look and completes the look with the OEM combi bracelet. They offer many different colors as well. I have em on my GD350-8 as well.

I have that same 5610U and that's what I wear when I'm doing yardwork. It's my favorite but I put a combi bracelet on it. I also really like the modded Royale AE1200 better than this other 2 original icons you have.

As usual I am mulling over my next watch purchase. I have jumped down the Casio rabbit hole a year ago. I was thinking of a Bartucci field watch, but now I am leaning towards a G shock square. I like the size and functionality, and that you can mod it. I now look at non Casio digital watches differently now: why buy a watch that only tells time and the day/date when you can have one with dozens of applications.

I picked up the DW-5600UE-1JF, the updated version of the base model, a week or so after it's release in Japan in March. As far as I can tell, only the backlight has changed, along with some text on the crystal. Not sure if the resin material is the same as on some newer models, or the older composition. Still an icon regardless, and waiting to see a review on it.

The only thing that really differs a G-Shock from other Casios is that the module inside is encased In a rubber sleeve, if you will... but that is really the only difference

You make a valid point…most non G-Shock Casios are really tough, making G-Shocks almost over engineered for the average user. The square is perhaps the most comfortable G-Shock. Have a great weekend and thank you for commenting.

@@Realidealgear .... my favorite Casio that I own is probably my TRT 110 mud resist... I love the rugged feel and look of it.... And even though it may not be a G-Shock, it looks like it could stand a pretty good beating

No argument there. I have a variation of the F91 and the 5600. I have GM5600, the metal one, on metal bracelet, and as I have mentioned before, I have a A168 on a SKXMOD metal case and bracelet. Yes, I’m that guy who likes the look, but has taken out the durability of the watches by getting a metal versions of them. Ha! Thanks as always.

With your ideas...I should really try a mod of one of my Casios....That really needs to happen soon. For some reason, the resin Casios....seem like thats the way nature designed them and well enough should be left alone. Have a great weekend.

I have f91w, dw5600 and gw5000u. Among all the watches I have (way too many to be considered as a responsible adult), I always return to one of these. Both f91w and dw5600 were washed by accident in the washing machine - no issues at all.

It's funny you mentioned the washing machine cleaning some Casios...I've been told that NUMEROUS time and they keep working whether G-Shock or not. Thanks for sharing.

Love my square Gshock. I have the exact model with this module. I just hate that the strap is sometime too tight or too loose 😅 my wrist is a tiny bit less than 6" 😂 otherwise love it and i want to get the made in Japan one with screwback

I have the 5610u Museum of Youth Culture LE which has a slightly better strap with a great print on it. Interestingly I purchased it just a few months before the artist Jamie Reed (who designed Anarchy in the UK Album cover) died at 76 years of age. To my mind the watch like Jamie is an absolute icon. I use it as my reference watch for the Automatics and it is my walking and gig going watch. It can survive any mosh pit. I am 55 😆

I love the good old square! Doesn't matter which one you pick its an awesome watch and will serve you well! It really has a timeless design as well! I have derivatives of those three but not them exactly ... Never been one for a conventional path haha! Hope you have a fantastic weekend Bro!

I have the G5600UE which is good alternative - the dial and colors are more like the classic DW5600, and it drops the multiband syncing. But otherwise the G5600UE is identical to the GWM5610UE. I actually wear mine on a DW5900 strap - just a little different from the standard 5600 strap, hits the sweet spot of comfort for me.

I like the G5600UE. Having the auto light and tough solar are great features. Atomic timekeeping isn’t as high on the list as is tough solar in my opinion. Like what you’ve mentioned, I’ve started experimenting with swapping other Casio straps on other watches.

I am struggling to find a full screen digital watch with 2 or 5 or 10 years battery life, that offers moon phases And it must be an urban digital watch design with pixelated screen (not segmented) Budget 200$

My glance from afar…the time display is too small. Looks like the step counter is the focus. I’d prefer the step counter to be on a separate mode where all health data can utilize the whole screen. Then the home screen can be dedicated to time/date info. The GBD 2000 is similar but it’s a 50mm case diameter, has a heart rate monitor AND it is solar. This is in my cart for purchase at a later time. To me there’s more value packed into this and it’s more legible….its also bigger and twice as costly.

Had a 5610u and sold it. Love the watch but had a problem with band, just couldn’t find the right hole. Also, rubber on this one is not the best quality. I plan to buy GW5000u, find it much more comfortable and better quality. It’s more expensive, I know. For now I have my GMW B5000. It a great watch, but not an everyday watch.

I have the same problem with the holes. It's either too tight or too loose. A hole in between would suit me, but I'm not so lucky. The wrist on my right hand is 3 mm stronger and the watch fits there perfectly. Unfortunately, I don't like wearing a watch on my right hand.

I've never been a fan of the distance between the holes on the strap. They could easily squeeze one more hole on the strap. That's an excellent square! no apologies...its fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
