I think it’s a matter of scale. I think as humans we are tribal creatures and we work well with a small community behind us. But as scale has increased from a tribe to a town to a city to a state to a country and now with social media it’s basically most of the world, it’s become difficult for most of us to relate to anything that isn’t in our immediate lives. I too am frustrated that people seem to not want to do anything about the serious problems we have but I think it’s entirely possible that people like this don’t feel any of it except the economy and taxes and as those have gotten worse we’ve seen more normies coming out of the woodwork to say something about it. It’s never your problem until it’s in your backyard.

The Chicago Rat Hole has it's own Wikipedia page. People have even been married there. Strange but cool

So in Chicago near Roscoe Village there's a hole in the sidewalk concrete shaped exactly like a rat (actually a squirrel, but people say it's a rat). It's been there for literally decades, nobody knows exactly how long. It was created when a squirrel fell into the concrete from a tree that used to overhang the sidewalk. It was a local attraction for many years, and then it went viral online in January of 2024. People would leave things at the rat hole, like pennies for example, and it became a kind of trans-rights symbol because someone left a little baggie of estradiol pills at the rat hole which are commonly used as feminising hormones for trans women who are in the process of medically transitioning. Someone also left a vial of estrogen liquid, used for the same purpose. Word quickly spread and a LOT of signs and plaques and other pro-trans paraphernalia started showing up near the rat hole. Apparently this made some fragile loser angry, so they tried to fill the hole in with concrete, but local residents removed the concrete and restored the rat hole on the same day. Love won over hate, and the rat hole continues to be a symbol for trans rights.

Years ago, a rat got stuck in the wet concrete and passed away. Because of it, there was a rat shaped hole in the concrete that alot of people loved to go bring coins to the rat hole, but it seems like someone came and filled it up just to ruin the fun

Sounds like a falling hazard for blind ppl, elderly ppl with walking aids, wheelchair users, and kids. Especially if ppl are leaving things like coins and candles in that area.
