It looked like China also got silver because the gold medalist's Chinese teammate was the only one to know that the rest of the pack still had another lap to go. While the other skaters stuck out their skates at the finish line, she knew that they actually had one more lap to go.

The strategy actually won them an easy silver and that is the most interesting thing..😅

She set the pace not sure why everyone was just watching her get a full lap on them instead of following her.

This is why you dont just do as your told. Think for yourself, especially at a professional level. This wasnt even competitive. They kind of played a trick on the sport, almost making a mockery of it. They knew that athletes at this age stick to a script and have little experience going against tradition. Eye opener.

Yeah, I don't get why they should go slow pace at the start when there's a chance to pass them ahead to take lead. Even car racing at the start going to take lead every second.

It sure doesn’t look like something that is out of the realm of possibility. Yet all other teams forgot that the Chinese skater was already one lap ahead. Nice move.

Well, you have to remember that those are the Youth Olympics, so there is not that much of experience. Second, once they did not see Yang anymore in front of them, it is easy to forget and loose track of her because they are concentrating on the others. Even the other Chinese woman distracted them when she raised the pace. Third point, they probably never had the case that the bell rings and it is not the last lap for them. With the reaction of the other Chinese woman you can see that even that seemed to be planned as she attacks just in the moment, when everybody finished their sprint, which caused even more disturbance as the others were now fully distracted what lap it is for them, some even went for even another lap to be safe.
