We expect higher inflation in Canada versus the U.S. in 2024-2025, says Jean-Francois Tardif, Founder and portfolio Manager, Timelo Investment Management. The Canadian dollar go much lower within 10 years - down to 50 cents - if Canada doesn’t change direction, says Tardif.

He was holding back, he doesn't want to be the one to responsible for causing a panic. The reality is the public sector is a bloated hog, there has to be major cut back by at least 80%. Reduction of income tax by 50% both federal and provincial, removal of GST and property taxes and politicians do not get a salary, its donation based. They do a good job they get paid by what the public thinks they're worth. The liberals and NDP have ruined this country, why are any of them getting paid?

In light of the ongoing global economic crisis, it is crucial for everyone to prioritize investing in diverse sources of income that are not reliant on the government. This includes exploring opportunities in stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the challenging economic situation, it remains a favorable time to consider these investments.

The pathway to substantial returns doesn't solely rely on stocks with significant movements. Instead, it revolves around effectively managing risk relative to reward. By appropriately sizing your positions and capitalizing on your advantage repeatedly, you can progressively work towards achieving your financial goals. This principle applies across various investment approaches, whether it be long-term investing or day trading.

Government as a major employer is foolish. Government has no incentive to get maximum productivity from their workers. Many government jobs are basically just workfare: created to create jobs for the sake of keeping people employed. But employing people in this way is wasteful. Paying someone a 100k/yr salary so they can sit around doing bare minimum work at a job that shouldn't even exist is a drag on productivity. Having tax payers pay that person's salary is unfair to tax payers. Jobs in the public sector should be assessed and cut where cutting is appropriate. Using new office software and AI driven tools should allow higher productivity and then cut the wasteful jobs. If that means half the public sector gets laid off, then so be it. Plan for it and make it happen.

We all drone on about wasting taxpayer money and wonder why the government is doing this. The answer is too hard to bear. I love free choice and democracy but the one huge failure of democracy is that the average person doesn’t elect the right person to make the hardest choices. Hard choices means cutting government jobs. Hard choices mean raising taxes to get us out of a debt hole. Hard choices means spending within our means until we can get the fiscal house in order. The US has the same problem. We are greedy and don’t want to pay the real price of having a better country. Sorry kids 😊

Canada is living above its means and doesn't have the wealth and growth to support the standards expects. The focus has to be on economic growth, productivity, and competitiveness. The government must do major spending cuts, for example reducing the size of government through firing the enormous amount of government employees that Trudeau has done. There are jobs for these people in the private sector. Canada must get its spending under control and make tough cuts and changes to invest in productivity and business growth. Taxes are way too high. Everything is wrong and Canada is heading in the wrong direction and faces a crisis. It's become an Argentina of the north.

Medicare and Medicaid have nothing to do with the conversation at hand. Medicaid is for poor people: as soon as you are paid only a little above min wage full-time or better you no longer qualify for Medicaid. Medicare is only 65+. A business without massive amounts of min wage employees will have 98% of their workforce NOT be covered by Medicare or Medicaid… meaning if you open a business in Canada you must pay taxes, and if you open in US you must pay taxes + healthcare. Large businesses always have more negotiating power for health insurance. Even with that, publicly traded companies most often pay MORE for healthcare than they do in income taxes. Taxes are (somewhat) low in the US but you almost certainly (with 50+ employees) then have to pay for the insurance most industrialized countries include with the taxes.

And lets not forget the elephant in the room....the Century Initiative and Trudeau's excessive imigration policy. Results in shortages of housing, medical services and daycare, among others. Acommodation of massive influx of new people requires large investvent to increase infrastructure capacity (greater population density, more road, electrical network, public transit), leads to adverse impact on environment (pressure on energy needs, water resources, land use, more difficult to achieve carbon reduction targets for Canada). Added up, this bears a high economic cost that impacts all Canadians. Would be a significant cause of dropping GDP per capita.

WW3 just kicked off, oil prices are likely going to go up a lot, and Canada will likely be forced to pick up the slack for supplying oil to NATO allies. Once Turdeau is gone, the CAD is going to rocket up in a big way. I converted all my CAD to gold when Turdeau was elected, I'm enjoying nearly 75% gains so far. I'm remaining short the CAD until PM trust fund baby is gone. Once he is gone, Canada is going to be an economic powerhouse, if only we could get some good leadership.

How do we balance budgets,,, stop spending outside Canada, stop massive immigration (we can 't support everyone), stop blaming rich people, stop buying votes. Small government, simplified tax system... The Carbon rebate scam is simply a wealth transfer. We will continue to lose investment and businesses in Canada.

4:56 Bloomberg: "How do we balance our books if we're cutting taxes." Tardif: "I don't know." What a tool. One of the main reasons why Canada's productivity isn't increasing is because Canada continues to rely on the oil and gas industry. The loonie is a petro dollar. It goes up and down with the price of oil and the long term trend for oil demand isn't looking promising as investment in renewables exceeds fossil fuels annually. Nation after nation is investing in renewables and energy storage to fight the climate crisis and achieve energy security. China, the largest auto market in the world, reached 48% EV sales in Mar 2024 and continues to grow. China is now diverting oil imports to its petrochemical facilities to manufacture value added products meanwhile Canada is content in exporting just the raw material.

It’s a wash. As an entrepreneur I take on so much risk, yet after hiring 14 employees , after taxes, I’m still no better off financially than when I was an employee. I still pay over 50% on the income I draw, it’s painful, what true incentives do I have to keep my business in Canada and cutting payroll? I’m better off offshoring more and changing my tax residency to a low tax jurisdiction and moving my residency to low tax jurisdiction. It’s a loss, I loved what Canada was , but this now is a waste.

She asks, how do we balance the budget if taxes are low? Well maybe don’t expand government spending and federal payroll by 40%. That might do it. Twitter was loosing 5 million a day when Elon took over and then he put a plug in the wage drain overnight. The same thing just happened in Argentina and it seems to be working. I have worked in federal government buildings and it’s sick how little people do.

Our current governments have really outdid themselves with regards to piling on the debt over the past few years. Looks like the party is over and someone has to pay the bill. Government has no clue how to get this under control so they are setting their sites on the taxpayer. I guess we should prepare for pain. We keep electing these folks who make all the nice expensive promises.

Canada has a huge housing bubble with no plans to prick it. This is malinvestment when so much capital is put into non productive real estate. We need to have this capital reallocated into profitable companies. Canadian banks are also at risk with so much invested into mortgages.

Canada has a voting liberal issue, how a nation never learns from its past mistakes really blows my mind. There hasn't in the history of this nation EVER been an inexpensive liberal leader. But true to symptoms of stockholms Canadians go back for more, it's a psychopathic cycle of liberal debt, followed by conservative solutions only to go back to liberal debt once more bravo 👏🏾

I think his point is that we are taxed way mre in Canada than other close competitive countries. There's no incentives to come and invest within Canada. BOC has stated on March 26th 2024 that Canada has a dire need for more investments to help productivity. "When you compare Canada’s recent productivity record with that of other countries, what really sticks out is how much we lag on investment in machinery, equipment and, importantly, intellectual property. The global economy continues to change rapidly, and in many sectors, it’s not machinery and equipment that are key-it’s investment in intellectual property. Increasingly, companies need to own or have the rights to patents that will allow them to compete by adopting productivity-boosting processes." "Economists and policy-makers across the country have worked hard to understand the root causes of why Canadian businesses seem reluctant to invest." In Canada's case, a way to incentivize this would be to lower taxes in order to attract more talent and investments.
