And generating electricity on site is a bit easier than drilling for oil and refining it on site. It’ll end up off road one way or another

@@wiryantirta Coal powered EVs would still be more environmentally friendly than gas or diesel vehicles so long as it is used long enough to offset the emissions of the battery. In a vehicle like the Hummer EV with a 200kwh battery that would probably be more difficult with only coal powered electricity, but honestly powering it with only coal would probably be pretty hard to do in most states.

Here in the US it’s about 13 tons with a regular civilian (class E) license, but it also depends on axle and maximum passenger count. So there’s trucks, vans, buses, etc that you would not be able to drive with a regular Class E regardless of weight. I assume the weight limit in Germany is not counting towing, as you would not be able to tow a medium-sized boat under that limit.
