Editing Journey:
I was excited when I got another chance to make an Expendables 5 dream trailer, because I’m a huge fan of the actors. Part of the fun was adding all action heroes that we haven’t seen yet in the franchise like The Rock, Jackie Chan, Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves. I begin the trailer showing Barney riding a motorcycle. Then I showed the old team from the 4th film to build up the idea that they won’t survive the next mission because Gunner will betray everyone. Interceptor film had a “we are under attack” line which I used to show a scene of the team facing a challenge to face Gunner.
Then to hype the trailer, I end act 1 with the line from Sly “We are gonna need a new team”. The fun part of the trailer begins, where I create a scene of Barney recruiting new members. I made sure to give each members the time to shine by showing their names. For the big epic ending I showed Barney driving a truck and making it fly to the river. The music was also a bit of a challenge, because I was looking for the vibe that is action and also fun. Fortunately despite the lack of fresh scenes from Tom Cruise, Sly and Jason Statham, the trailer turn out to be good. I hope the film makers would be inspired to make at least one last Expendables films this time with more action legends.
