The First Crusade was one of the most extraordinary, bloody and significant episodes in medieval history. It began with an appeal for aid from the Christian Byzantine Empire, threatened by the rising power of the Muslim Seljuk Turks. But when Pope Urban II preached a sermon at Clermont in 1095, the result was unlike anything ever seen before.

Old school viewers of Epic History TV will know that we released our First Crusade series all the way back in 2017, but a compilation video seems to be the most popular way to watch a series these days, so here it is! I hope you enjoy our coverage of the extraordinary events of the first and most successful of Crusades - whether it's your first time, repeat viewing, or last time you only got as far as Antioch... All parts just means the whole series is shown together in one video instead of 3 or 4 different video clips which is how he always does it. He makes a certain amount or certain section and releases that and then he makes the next section and releases that and so forth and so on until he’s complete. Once he’s done with the last part he just edits the whole thing together and releases it as “All Parts” 😅

A lot of older knights went on the Crusades, knowing that they wouldn't be coming back. As for the younger knights, it was the perfect opportunity for those looking for promotions, or looking to earn their knighthood by combat. Common fighters who had been trained for combat, but didn't have titles, went along expecting to come back as "Sir."

You are participating in the lies about the past, being vague and satanic because of how your words are lies. "Looking" and "expecting" are satanic words that are lies because of their satanic numerology, like how expecting is part of a satanic spellcasting ritual because the word begins with ex, and their positions in the alphabet are 5 and 24, which add to 29, and 29 is 2 times 9, which equals 18, which is 6 times 3, or 666, the number of the beast, that we are made to take, or the name of the beast, or the mark of the beast, or not buy and sell, which is written in Revelation chapter 13 verses 17 to 18. The dust of the Earth was lowered and all of what we do is not how the Most High created the doings to be. What we do and what the world is, are both corrupted to amaze and confuse us and make us view Satan as if he is Jah (Psalms chapter 68 verse 4) and using apostrophes, which are unnecessary and only promote confusion and lower dust. You could read about the dust of the earth, who we are and which was lowered for thousands of years, through my account.

Unrelated, but my video was deleted and there was no reason given, do not trust the satanic elites. The account picture for Epic History TV is a pentagram, which is a satanic symbol that is on the image of Baphomet, a demon that Satan worshippers worship. https(colon)//www(dot)kapwing(dot)com/videos/61fd77f1c4434f00ea457bb6 this is also the most recent video which could be seen through my computed (we are not using portals) account, or through this clickable computed text. https(colon)//www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=BJehvnY_EXo. They deleted my computed comments, which I made computed replies and comments of this to all computed accounts. Do not believe their lies, they will do what their commander, Satan, who is Lucifer, wants, because my video contained righteousness, and showing a picture of that Satan worshipper Bill Clinton with Rachel chandler, evidence of trafficking.

@MondoBeno Nope. Knighthood was given in Europe, and not a single foot soldier expected to upgrade to knight. It is a Victorian romantic view about these times, that doesn't fit reality by far. The fairy tales of lone knights fighting for a ladies honor are from the 19th century. To maintain yourself as a knight you had to have three trained horses, full armor, swords in good shape, ten to twenty foot soldiers to look after all your gear, enough food to feed yourself and your personnel, bows, arrows, and other gear for your soldiers etc etc. So they were not travelling from castle to castle as romantics want you to think, they had to own a big estate, with lots of farms, who each delivered a soldier in times of combat. And their tasks as knight were combined with other official tasks like policing, tax collection, local judge, and advisor of the duke, count or bishop they served. And it may surprise you: They had to be married! This caused problems with the knight orders that were founded, by joining them the knight left all his earthly possessions to the order and disinherited his wife and offspring. That is how those orders became extremely rich. The 'marriage' between knight and order had to be at least three years for his family to loose everything, so the order did all they could to keep him alive for those years, often the only reason for a knight to become a member in these harsh circumstances.
@MondoBeno
@MondoBeno Рік тому
@@dutchman7623 I disagree. A sergeant at arms could be knighted, and it happened. You had to be able to ride a horse, but non-titled could be knighted. And not all knights had to train/equip their own men. It depended on the deal that you made with whoever's vassal you were.

This world is rapidly passing away and I hope that you repent and take time to change before all out disaster occurs. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc

Nowadays we regard the men who fought in WW2 as extremely tough. Can you imagine one of the First Crusaders? The life of a Medieval peasant was already brutal and full of PTSD. On top of that, these guys hacked and sliced their way across continents into a completely alien world, having to cannibalize children along the way in order to not die.

Actually, his accent is far more rhotic than the Standard British Accent. Initially, it made his narration seem more epic, but it's become quite irritable for me, and that sort of feel doesn't go well with this period of history, either. After watching the video, I am disappointed that many important details are left out, leaving the story not flowing well. For better tellings of medieval history, channels like Kings and Generals and Flash Point History are definitely better. Extra History's series on the First Crusade, while not showing the battles, and only having still images, has a lot of interesting information about the characters and people, that is not mentioned in other tellings of it, from other channels. Kings and Generals and Flash Point History show more maps with battles, with less of a focus on the personal side. This video only provides a brief overview of the First Crusade, probably intended for people who don't already know much about medieval history. For people who already do, Epic History is doing a disservice, and this video probably isn't worth watching. The non-medieval videos are good, though.

Did muslims in these 400 years massacre christians? Killed children? Like what crusaders did when they took down the muslim cities? You need to know that muslim conquests were strictly organised to not kill innocent people, the killing occurs only during battles (this did not include killing of women even if they were in the battle field, just men), whenever a city is conquered, the people of this city become part of the islamic caliphate people, they can continue their lives normally and practice their faith freely, these things are documented by christian historians not just by muslims, for example, when Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, the second caliph, conquered Jerusalem, it occurred without a drop of blood, the christians in it handed him the keys peacefully and he made contracts with them to not harm them in any way, and he brought back the jews who were exiled from Jerusalem by christians and gave them their rights. But what happened when crusaders invaded muslims lands? You can search about that to see that for example when they took down Jerusalem, they killed any muslim or jew in it, they literally smashed the children heads, historical documents say that the blood in Jerusalem on that day reached knees.

@@bot9378Christianity is what the human rights declaration founded itself upon in all societies slavery was practiced but it was the christians that decided to put an end to it. The Christians had a better view of human life than the pagan believers of Rome, Greece and etc. The philosophers of Greek and Roman antiquity “lacked the concept of human dignity,” Harper explains. As Christianity became more widespread, leaders of the church developed more influence, and some rulers even became Christians. This “created the grounds for the development of human rights.” I might have noted that you can find sources for universal human dignity in the Hebrew Bible as well. These advocates of late antiquity were drawing off of principles from both the Old and New Testaments. But starting in the AD 300s, “we find Christians, for the first time, in positions of sovereign control and social leadership, empowered rather than persecuted.” What would they do with that power? We should not exaggerate the extent of their advocacy of human rights, but certain Christian writers did break away from longstanding social practices related to slavery, prostitution, and neglect of the poor. Based on Christian convictions, they sometimes made first-in-world-history arguments against these practices. They did not need to wait for Jefferson or Immanuel Kant to enlighten them. Slavery is the most intriguing case. The institution, in which many people were treated (and mistreated) as commodities, was pervasive in the ancient world. Harper makes the uncomfortable but fair point that the Scripture itself did not contain immediately obvious passages which would absolutely prohibit owning slaves per se. We don’t have much evidence to suggest that the early church typically moved beyond the Pauline admonitions for slaves to obey masters, and for masters to treat slaves fairly. This makes especially conspicuous a sermon of the fourth-century Church Father Gregory of Nyssa, in which he began to criticize slavery as an institution. As Harper notes, this is a breathtaking departure since we have no other such extant criticisms of slavery “from the entire ancient world.” Although Gregory’s criticisms seem to have attracted little notice at the time, it was “no small distinction to be the earliest human to have left an argument for the basic injustice of slavery.” Quite a milestone! Gregory’s sermon is on Ecclesiastes, and details the sins of those who have become prideful because of their wealth. In the ancient world, such pride was often manifested in the owning and maltreatment of slaves. Gregory does not just indict the masters for abusing slaves, however. He rages against the “sheer arrogance of slave ownership” itself. As made by God, humans were naturally free beings, and slavery made a mockery of their natural state. Christian leaders made even more progress in their critique of prostitution, and the treatment of the poor. With regard to prostitution, Christian rulers helped to make many kinds of coerced sex illegal by the end of the fifth century, something that would have been unthinkable without Christian concepts of human dignity. Elsewhere I have described “equality by creation” as the most powerful concept to emerge from the American Revolution. But really, it is a concept with deeper roots in the Judaeo-Christian tradition. Many Christians in antiquity, and for centuries afterward, continued to accept practices like chattel slavery. But the spread of Christianity opened unheard-of possibilities for reform, based on the notion that we all stand equal before our Creator.

@ggoddkkiller1342

This was mostly neutral but still there were some great mistakes, for example at battle of Dorylaeum Turkish forces didn't only used ranged tactics rather charged at crusader lines and tried to breakthrough them. During that time Byzantine armies were a lot lighter than western European knights so Turks miscalculated how much crusader lines could resist with their heavier armours and got caught off guard when crusader reinforcements arrived. Another mistake that after their defeat Turkish forces didn't allow crusader army to freely travel in Anatolia rather kept harrassing them constantly with hit-run attacks, supply route raids and scorched-earth tactics. It was the main reason why the crusader army traveled south away from Turkish obas in central Anatolia. An oba was basicly a mobile city consisting hundreds or even thousands of nomadic tents and vast majority of them were moved into fertile valleys of central Anatolia avoiding heavily populated areas which were also conflict zones like western and southern Anatolia. There weren't many obas in Syria as well simply because of desert conditions. This was why Atabeys who ruled Syrian territories had vast majority Arabic armies not Turkish and none of them ever used Sultan title which is wrongly shown in this video. Using Sultan title would mean they were no longer a part of Seljuk empire therefore they would also loose Seljuk protection and be overthrown by an Arabic Emir easily. However it is true even if Seljuk empire still existed it was extremely divided and couldn't act against crusaders. While some Seljuk Atabeys raised armies and tried to fight against them especially Atabeys who ruled Arabic territories as Antioch, Jerusalem etc were vast majority Arabic and Arabs were really eager to revenge massacres committed. For Turkish perspective the first crusade was a threat which was slightly touched to them..

For as many videos of this nature as I watch, I'm still amazingly bad at placing the decade or even the century of many major events of which I've watched numerous multi-hour-long videos on.
