Been listening to Metro since his work with Oj. This tape really was on some pre 2010 ish

The elements were already in the sample. Stacking drums make the beat already present behave like parallel compression. Metro rolled off the original 808 notes and transposed the sample down and did the sub bass with the horn melody. Back in the day they didn’t really play the 808 in several notes. From a creative standpoint it’s really not all that. However the vibe and the song all together makes it dope. Erik B and Rakim used the sample first. The west coast always replayed the samples back in the day. This was one of Rodney O and Joe Cooley biggest song. East coast had the lyrics back then but cats was on subways and at party’s. In the West the D Boys had crazy sound systems with the trunk rattling. The way saturation is added on the 808 today is owed to that trunk rattling sound. It’s dope how things go full circle.

bro drums on type shit are obviously did by D Rich legendary producer even his open hat is present in bounce he is originator of glo wave sound and trap off beat bounces . And even bells are from roland fantom his main go-to keyboard. I think Metro did only Hook - Bridge and maybe some sounds in back.
