Just to clarify that they were all feeling like shit due to the crazy weather (humidity and heat). They did confirm that they felt like killing each other at the time.

Actually no, the windshield and the Rear window glass ("back windshield" as you said) are two different types of glass. All windows except the windshield are tempered glass, which makes it relatively hard to break. The windshield, on the other hand is laminated, it is formed by two layers of glass with a thin layer of a transparent soft material between them, so that even if something hits the windshield, it won't shatter in a million pieces. Of course, the disadvantage to this is that this makes the glass a lot more prone to crack compared to a tempered glass unit.
