For all those for whom the Dutch synopsis seems to be an "IRRITATION game" here's a translation.... The Imitation Game is an impressive drama about the life and work of Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch), the brilliant but emotionally complex British scientist whose work during WW 2 helped to shorten the war and hence saved the lives of ten thousands of people. In the winter of 1952 Alan Turing was arrested for then illegal homosexual conduct which led to a terrible conviction. What nobody knew however was that he had been the leader of a highly secret team of bright people during the war. Their task was to break the Enigma code the Germans used for all their communications. The decoder Turing invented not only was essential to end the war, but it also was the prototype of our modern computer. Through this movie, one of the least known but extremely important figures from the world's history finally gets the credit he deserved. The Imitation Game, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong and Matthew Goode in the lead role was received very positively by both the press and the public on several prestigious filmfestivals, and it won several times the public's prize.

The question WHAT WILL THEY THINK? will haunt me evermore.... If you’ve watched this movie, you know what scene I’m referencing!

Why the f.... am I given a dutch synopsis of the rather than an English one?

I don't get it😑

The man certainly deserved reckognition, but a) when this movie came out, his important role was already well known and b) the movie is such a horrible Hollywoodian circus and soap opera, it is much more interesting to watch a good docu about his life. And to please all the proud Polish nationalists, yes indeed, without the earlier work of a number of equally bright Polish mathematicians, Turing's work would have taken many more years. So they too deserve credit. And let's remain fair: if the man didn't get reckognition after the war, it was not because he was gay, it was not because other people took all the credit, it was because the whole codebreaking operation still was highly classified. Some secret operations that took place during WW 2 still are today, by the way.

A very bad movie, which hardly follows the life of Alan Turing. This could have been much better.
