@ElectroCrimson basically, they either end up obsessed with being perfect and trying to live up to their parents standards, which is impossible, so they feel really bad about themselves, or they totally rebel and and end up like using drugs, breaking the law etc

wait... what? Charles died last year (2020) he's not still in prison. i feel for his wife, as well as the victims and survivors too of course. i can't imagine being married to a man, sharing a home, sharing a bed with him, all the while he's out there murdering women and mutilating their corpses.

Well his wife left him in 1975 and divorced him in 1987 so they were married when he started killing. The divorce was most likely the trigger for him to start killing though as he started around the same time he got divorced!

I used to work at the prison he was in, he passed away sometime last year, supposedly he would joke with nurses and tell them they had “Beautiful eyes” and supposedly before he died he wrote a letter to the then warden admitting to more than the 3 suspected murders and where he hid the bodies.

I worked at the prison he was in when he died, the Montford psychiatric unit in lubbock Texas. The whole unit knew about it within 12 hours, inmates included. He was a weird guy.

His wife was my English teacher like 4 years after the murders. Poor woman, deathly afraid of him, never changed her name so Im assuming they didn't divorce. She was a little "off" but who wouldnt be. As an adult I've wondered if he made her be an accomplice against her will.

As far as I'm aware none of the eyeballs were recovered. I *think* his wife found the eyes and turned him in. There were no leads, then boom, the killer was caught.

He was incarcerated in the John Montford Psychiatric Unit in Lubbock, Texas.

Why is it so often the kids with severe abuse grow up to be killers. Not that, that's the ONLY reason but it is a pretty common beginning for serial killers. That and learning taxidermy? I dunno, he and Dahmer had that education early on.
