Medieval armor from maile through plate was distributed well across the body, was specifically fit and made for the wearer, and allowed someone fit enough to wear it to move almost as if they didn't even have it on, while modern body armor is focused around the chest mostly, with said armor having the ability to impede your ability to breath or move if you have it on wrong. Add shoulder plates and a heavy ass Altyn like the poster did and you're simply weighing yourself down even further so that, if you actually have to go a decent distance on your adventure, you'd be struggling more than someone wearing only a plate carrier and a FAST helmet.
