I am finally glad that somebody is recognizing the body of work that Lennox Lewis put forth and the résumé that he built during his boxing career I met him in Jamaica and he was one of the finest human beings I have ever encountered in my life he was so humble and so professional it’s hard to believe that inside of the ring that man was capable of that kind of damage.

@Pete Burns East Side Boxing Forum > Boxing > General Boxing Forum Why Do Lennox Lewis fans Deny, Lie and Distort Information? The Vindicator Tyson 'a shell' June 6, 2002 at 12:00a.m. If this were the Mike Tyson of years ago, Emanuel Steward might be a little more worried. Steward, who trains Lennox Lewis, thinks Tyson is just a shell of the fighter he once was. Tyson is expected to be an underdog for the first time in his career when he meets Lewis for his heavyweight titles Saturday night at the Pyramid Arena in Memphis, Tenn. “Everybody is holding on to that image of Mike Tyson of 12, 13 years ago,” Steward said. “They don’t want to let that go. But that Mike Tyson is gone"
@lummox42972 роки тому
@Pete Burns "Mountain Forest" keeps claiming Riddick Bowe "refused" to fight Lennox Lewis 😃
@lummox42972 роки тому
Boxing: Lewis To Meet Bowe Saturday 18th June, 1994 00:02 LENNOX LEWIS is to defend his World Boxing Council heavyweight title against Riddick Bowe in Las Vegas between November and next May. Lewis will earn pounds 12m and Bowe nearly pounds 9m, according to the champion's financial backer, Pannos Eliades. This depends upon Lewis's successful mandatory defence against Oliver McCall at Wembley in September and Bowe winning a comeback fight after losing his World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation titles to Evander Holyfield last November

@roberth22279 місяців тому
Lewis showed a lot of class not attacking Oliver McCall in their rematch when McCall dropped his arms and had a nervous breakdown. I could see how the urge to avenge getting knocked out from McCall in their first fight may have made it tempting to try and KO McCall when he became vulnerable. Lewis however, had the perspecacity to realize that something wasn't right with McCall, and showed compassion in not attempting to throw a punch and merely allow the referee to caal the fight. Very class act, and deserving of being a Champion.
@MrVvulf2 місяці тому
McCall's breakdown was likely a culmination of factors. The two primary ones being drugs, and the loss of his trainer (forced out by Don King). McCall had a very tight relationship with Manny Stewart, his trainer. Don King became worried that Stewart might advise McCall to drop Don King (as any good trainer SHOULD), and so he forced McCall to fire Stewart. Being at the fight without the man who trained him to be there pushed McCall over the edge, in my opinion.
