As a gay man I find this dialogue very refreshing. I find myself at odds with some of the identity politics swirling around in the gay "community". There's a dangerous neo liberal fascism which is extremely disturbing and I salute those who counter this extremism with balanced and reasoned argument.

27:51 there‘s a great cartoon about this, a black guy saying to a white guy “You were never judged by the color of your skin!“ and the white guy says “I just was.“

Douglas Murray is a treasure. Regarding the trans issue and pertaining to children by giving them life altering medicine-I wonder why nobody brings up the frontal lobe in our brains and how it does NOT develop until our mid to late twenties? This is the area in our brain responsible for decision making!

Love his books - should be on the educational curriculum for secondary students!

The bit at the end around 52 minutes when he says why aren't students at university studying how we can live in underwater cities is legendary. We need young people thinking about more important subjects that will help continue the human race not destroy it.

A great podcast and discussion between yourself and Douglas Murray! What a refreshing well of common sense to drink from in the growing desert of woke insanity. Do continue Julia to make these Oasis of sanity which are desperately needed in the crazy place the world finds itself just now.

Growing up in the 50s and 60s, I remember my father once saying in reference to the poverty and oppression clearly evident in some of the poorest undeveloped areas in the world at that time, “that but for the fact that one ovum and one sperm at one particular time in one particular place, you could have easily have been born there instead of here”. The ‘here’ he was speaking of is Canada, a country our family emigrated to in 1955 from the Netherlands. We landed at Pier 1 in Halifax. My dad had $5 in his pocket - our entire family fortune. Both our mother and father were huge proponents of hard work, a good education for their children - sons and daughters. I suppose being white was a privilege but we lived a a predominantly white society. So the biggest distinguishing factor was ‘class’. Race was not even an issue back then. Only equality of opportunity….and that too was and still is of importance to me and that too is what is critical for all people no matter race, or sex or religion or culture. If we could all just believe in that, we would be so much better off.

OMG Heaven my two favs together

Refreshing indeed to listen to two very sane people. I recently got corrected for calling a woman "she" .... She has just changed her pronoun, now "they" -- but the person didn't hold it against me since the "she" just became a "they" .... Madness!

This is the most refreshing discussion I have heard since our dear Roger Scruton passed away who always spoke bravely on so many important issues and gave his thoughts to be heard. Thank you Douglas Murray for your input to such dire circumstances that we are all facing.
