Possibly…I think the lighter Lee gave to Angela is what caused the “curse” to pass onto him. Angela needed something that belonged to Paul for it to work, the lighter that he had borrowed from Paul and kept for years. Once he killed Paul, technically the lighter didn’t have its owner anymore. Like when someone passes away and you have items that you got from them that become yours. The lighter is what tied the curse to the victim, therefore Lee became the only connection to the lighter used in Angela’s curse.

So, possession of the item was important to the magic. Even though the item wasn’t a gift, since it was stolen by Rentoul I could see how the item may have defaulted to his possession once Noriega was dead. This might have been why Angela couldn’t have stopped it (though I doubt she cared to either).

Hearing Jon say curse words is just such a novelty to me, I don't know why. Also for anyone that hasn't pieced it together yet, Angela's jigsaw puzzles were all people, and every time she found a piece and put it in place, the person in the picture would loose a bit of themselves. The item she needed was probably so the power she was using would get the victims scent, though not in a physical way. A gifted item wouldn't work because it wouldn't be connected to them anymore *SPOILERS* . . . . . . . . . . . . This seems like it would either be in the Domain of the hunt or the flesh. I'd say the hunt since it's about causing pain in persistence and the bit about some hungers being too powerful to stop.

This was definetly in my top 3 plot unrelated episodes. I'm not gonna lie, this episode on top of being scary is genuinely funny as hell. Just hearing the statement of this actaul murderer just losing his shit over everything is hilarious to me.

If you're a fan of this podcast you might like Welcome to Nightvale, which is radio broadcasts from a little town in the desert in the western US about the goings on there. Cecil, the host talks about all the normal little things of day to day life, such as updates on the candidates running for mayor -- Hiram McDaniels, a five headed dragon, and The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in All of Our Homes -- information on the city that was discovered in the pin retrieval area under lane 5 in the Desert Flower Bowling Alley, etc. You know, normal stuff that in small town america.

(Spoiler alert if you haven't finished the podcast). There is another evil old lady with a valley full of litter or something. Technically Jude Perry may be placed into the older group of evil, she just doesn't look like this. And let's not forget the ultimate badass the previous archivist)
@meep_cubed170

@@user-iz8iw7ne6h, that’s fair, but I’m not sure if Gertrude counts as evil, Jude doesn’t exactly have the vibes, and Maggy died and was replaced in the epesode she daubed so I’m not sure if she fits the evil old people criteria, all the other evil old men like Peter, Simon, Arthur and the rest were in at least 2 epesodes
@user-iz8iw7ne6h

@@meep_cubed170 partially agree. But on Gertrude agree to disagree - she fits the vibe perfectly. She may not have wanted her patron to win, and may not have realised the whole truth about the rituals, but she was absolutely ruthless and easily ruined lives in such a terrible way that she could straight away apply for an avatar of desolation, lol

@@user-iz8iw7ne6h fair, however in that case, I’d like to have Gertrude to be an evil old man, TM, as a buried avatar, as she loved hiding and obscuring information which I guess could also be dark, but I like the astetic of the buried better

this was a really fun one! i hope we get more statement givers who are real shit heads like this guy. this seemed like a pretty straight forward cautionary tale about patience. if you're going to go through the trouble to put a hit on someone via evil curse, you can't get impatient and stab the dude yourself and NOT expect weird magical repercussions. also, DID martin meet the angela described in this statement? she seemed like she enjoyed projecting an unassuming demeanour, so i'm sure she'd have no problem chatting about jigsaws without giving herself away. on the other hand, it's a bit rich for the narrator to call him a useless ass when all he gave him to go on was a first name and general area.
