Welcome! This is a video I've been wanting to put out since around February due to the booth being made around that time! But as usual, time gets the best of me, so here it is 6 months later than planned... 😂
Nonetheless, I want to be able to take y'all along with me on my journey as an Actor/Voice Actor, and hopefully make it into the professional world of this field! And this video, is the first step of me slowly turning my dreams into a reality!
All in all, I hope y'all enjoy the video!

@@JuneBugg0813 I did the 101 and 201 VA courses from Closing Credits. And am about to start solo Coaching with Deb Munro! Is it good to get a coach early on, or just jump into solo auditions?

@@SketchOfMind Nice! I haven’t taken Closing Credits classes myself, but I hear nothing but good things about them! To answer your second question, honestly I don’t think there’s a wrong choice. Having a coach early on can help you build a good foundation that you can use moving forward! However, if you auditioned first, you get a good feel at what you may excel at and lack. Again, no wrong choice there in my opinion! All that matters is you’re doing it! 🙌🏾

id get rid of all the foam and only use moving blankets (OR, cover the foam already on the walls with moving blankets). after that, i'd invest in a mic preamp, and then decide what direction to take it (as far as upgrading goes). Good luck with the dream my g. i think you should go to more voice classes more often, sharpen metal with metal.

Yo dude this video is genuinely super helpful! I know you uploaded a long time ago so the chances of you seeing this are slim but how did you get the foam on to your walls? I’ve just begun turning my closet into a recording space and am trying to figure out how I go about that part. Would appreciate it if you could detail how you went about that when you get the chance, thank you so much!
@JuneBugg0813
@JuneBugg0813 Місяць тому
Hello! Glad my video was able to help out! So in terms of getting the foam onto my wall, I used what's called Gorilla Super Strength adhesive from Home Depot. (I probably used 2 cans total for my space) From there, I sprayed (a healthy dose) the back of the foam making sure to get all four corners as well as the middle, and just pressed it up against my wall for about 15-20 seconds. The adhesive is VERY strong and has a strong smell, and I'd recommend spraying it outside. If you do spray it inside your home, make sure to have a window open. I'm not sure if the smell is toxic, but I can't imagine inhaling it constantly being a good thing. Lastly, like you said this video was a while ago, and I setup my booth in February of 2024. So as fat as longevity, everything is still on my wall to this day and I haven't had any issues with foam falling off or anything of that nature! Sorry for the essay, but I hope all of this helps! If you do have any more questions don't hesitate to ask!

Bro, don't spend a dollar more on Foam, that actually sucks and is WAAY too expensive (basically a rip off) and can impact your sound negatively since it only absorbs the very very high frequencies. If you like it for the aesthetics, keep it, but I would recommend buying copopren (its solid slabs of material so you can hang them as is, no frame needed and way cheaper) and then you can cover it in fabric or with the "acoustic foam" from amazon. Also thickness REALLY matters here so I would go for at least 5cm-2inches so you get a more even absorbption.

The volume on your video is too low. I had to turn up my settings to listen. As long as you are not peaking on your settings, you can send your audio louder to UKposts and still get good results. Why is your mic turned away from you? Point it towards your mouth. Is it a shotgun mic or dynamic? You are too far away from it.
@JuneBugg0813
@JuneBugg0813 9 місяців тому
Lol, I appreciate your concern, but the primary usage of this setup is meant for voice over and not so much for UKposts videos. So what may seem abnormal in this video doesn’t matter much to me. Since for voice over, everything turns out fine.
