This absolutely happened to me in two of my births. The anesthesiologist were horrible at my last two births. GOD brought me through both times because I know for a fact they were trying to kill me. I am unsure if I am fully healed now but we take it one day at a time. I hope these efforts protect more lives.

we really need to spend more time publically unpacking the Black maternal health crisis. The VP was making some great points, and it's important to model and show what that looks like, especially the drs visits, support team, logging your feelings, and what supportive post maternal care is. and let me tell you, as a working mom, employers do not care what new moms or families need they only care about your productivity and if it slips due to being a new mom they will fire you in many cases.

@marylander. I agree. I would also add, Maternal care starts before a woman decides to give birth. First, it is extremely difficult to find a good doctor...one that listens and looks in the eye while talking, and takes concerns and issues seriously. Second, if a black woman has pre-existing conditions these need to be properly managed before getting pregnant. This is not talked about enough. Lastly, there needs to be a greater priority placed on eating right and exercising.

My only critique is when interviewers are trying to humanize her and make her more relatable, especially to black folk, she pivots. I love Keke so much. She’s so intelligent and graceful. She brings a level of empathy, perspective, and approachability that makes her so accessible and fun to watch. I’m not even American, and I have no idea intimately about the issues she’s discussing, but I’m still engaged and interested. Honestly, I watched this more for Keke than I did for Kamala. Of course I love Kamala too and think she’s doing a great job, but Keke is so wonderful. I hope she gets her own show. I would love to watch her interview more people.
