Rave time: Okay, I'm a metalhead. 90% of what I listen to is several orders of magnitude more intense than this album. But I've recently started getting into more electronic music. What began with Celldweller has brought me here and I have to say...I don't actually know how to say it so that proper justice is done. This is one of the best albums I've heard this year, perhaps in the last five years. It's amazingly done, extraordinarily crafted, and I daresay a perfect example of this genre that I didn't even know existed two months ago. The vocals couldn't be a better match for the instrumental tracks, and oh mylanta, that saxophone. I hope the horn parts are real, cuz those melodies melt my soul into a puddle of bliss. I needed this album in my life. Thanks for reading, youtubers. Just had to say something.

This band keeps getting better and better. What a killer album. I bought it immediately on bandcamp as soon as I heard the first song. I recommend anyone else that loves this album to do the same. These guys deserve all the cash and praise that they can get. This is some of the best NewRetroWave has to offer. This album is off the charts.

They had plenty of synth music in the 80s, most of it just didn't sound like this. You should look up the work of Vangelis and Jan Hammer, their stuff sounds like modern synthwave.

@@ecadbxI was thinking of the Glenn Frey song "You belong to the City" too when I heard this. The sax certainly seems inspired by this. However I do like that song a bit more than "ROD". But then again, I do generally prefer real 80s music over imitations of it. There's more musical depth to the 'real deal' and better lyrics as well.

I was thrown out of the house at 14 saw hell and heaven together in a way, it was a great time yet things in life were very hard for me. Narcissistic parents which ruined my later life. I was awoken out of a beautiful dream, was angry. Said some things that shouldn't have been said, being the scene. Turned on all the playlists, saw a notification for one, The Midnight! All negative context has melted away. All that's left is The New Retro Nirvana!

8:52 is a tribute to Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight", for sure. As the guys in the comments below, I was a stubborn metalhead for many years (especially during the High School), but then that "life phase" is ended up. I mean, it's natural when you're young, adolescent, identify yourself in a pack, music or ideal. When you start to became adult the point of view on everything starts opening. As an 80's baby growing up hearing bands like Tears for Fears, New Order, The Smith's, Depeche Mode and many other New Wave bands. This music speaks to my soul. Way to bring back those beautiful layered melodies of the 80's. 🖤🖤🖤🎷🎹🎧🎵🎶

I'm getting in the habit of turning off my adblocker so that aspiring artists like The Midnight, Michael Oakley, Freeweights, Dana Jean Phoenix and others will never have to quit music. This is currently my favorite genre of music, The Midnight is my favorite band, and it all needs to be in the spotlight. Seriously, it's gotten to a point where I love Neo 80's music more than actual 80's songs.

I dont know why but this music makes me think of all the things ive done in life so far.. Through 28 years.. But the one line that gets me.. " I meant to so say i love you, but instead i said goodbye" Never been the best at expressing how i feel to women i do fall for. But that.... That felt like it was specifically for me

These guys really do know how to make "just close your eyes, chill in the darkness of night, let that cool night breeze hit your face, take a deep breath, and get lost in the harmony of these melodies" kinda music, and honestly, this is exactly what I need in my life when everything else gets too loud. Just close my eyes and focus on the right kind of sound

I believe the first track i ever heard of the Midnight is Vampires, But... without no doubt when i heard Collateral... I was buried in goosebumps, this was 2017. And I can never get tired of it, especially the sax. I most times play pretend i am playing it to a point some friend who never heard them think I played the sax. I love you Midnight. I pray I get a chance to see you live....one love all the way from Nigeria. Amazing Music, simply Electric.

i remember when this album came out. my first dive into synthwave. not really that long ago but man time flies. world is a lot more different now but this album still brings some of that hopeful energy in me
