In 2015, the unsettling disappearance of Crystal Rogers, a 35-year-old mother of five, unfolded during the Fourth of July weekend. Her family reported her missing on July 5, 2015, and on the same day, her car was discovered abandoned on the side of the road near her home. The vehicle had a flat tire, her keys were in the ignition, and her phone and purse were left behind.
Tragically, Crystal never returned, and the case remained unsolved in the following months. The situation took a darker turn on November 19, 2016, a mere sixteen months after Crystal's puzzling disappearance. During a hunting trip on their family property in Bardstown, Crystal’s father, Tommy Ballard, was fatally shot.

Like if she was actually sitting with him it would be nothing to say "Yeah I did say I had to call her, yeah she was sitting right next to me. But dude on the phone didn't know that. It was midnight, I didn't wanna deal with it right then, she didn't want to either. I lied to the guy on the phone because we were only concerned with getting the baby to sleep, not with rental work." But then the phonecall with Nick lol yeah you can tell he's not had much acting experience 🥴

My take on this case is that the husband killed his wife and his brother the cop knew what he did helped him cover it up. Cops go bad all the time so i think they both killed her father because he was getting close to findong out that the husband killed her. This poor mother lost a daughter and her husband. So sorry for your loss.🙏🙏

The phone call between Brooks & Nick just makes me cringe. Brooks had to make sure that he voiced out loud that he was innocent & he knows innocent people get “jammed up” & has nothing to hide & just wants to help. Lol Terrible acting. 😂

I don't think the father was paranoid at all... they knew, he knew, who killed Crystal. There just wasn't any evidence at that time. But considering how arrogant those brother's were there is no reason to think the rest of the family wasn't in danger also. If they are willing to kill an innocent mother why wouldn't they do it again in order to get the heat off themselves considering how hard the father worked to get answers. If they are willing to do that they are willing to do it again. Past behavior predicts future behavior.

When I heard them question Brooks about the late phone call, and when he called the Lawson home while in the interview room, I immediately thought it suspicious. I so wish the FBI could have gotten involved sooner

This poor family, man! How much heartbreak can one family endure? Thank God Brooks was finally arrested this year for her murder. It certainly won’t/can’t bring Crystal back, but it’s at least a step in the right direction towards justice for Crystal & her family. May her & her father both rest in peace, and I hope they’re together on the other side, celebrating Brooks’ arrest & all the new developments in the case. May that evil man rot in prison for the rest of his natural life, along with the truth about whether or not his brother and/or anyone else was potentially involved. What’s done in the dark WILL be brought into the light eventually. I hope her children have all the love & support they could have considering the circumstances of no longer having their mother, as well as a father when it comes to the youngest, Eli.

Not at all on his side but the part where he talked to the guy on the phone n said he would have to call crystal but yet she was beside him. I actually get what he was saying and doing… a lot of times when I don’t feel like talking to people at night I’ll have my man tell them “I’ll call her n see” or “I’ll have her call” even though I’m beside him, I just don’t wanna be bugged lol

I actually understood this too and didn't seem too outlandish. EXCEPT for that call was entirely rehearsed. He was way too nice and overly helpful. Hence the man on the phone ended being arrested for murder.

cops remember everything- they are very observant, they are trained to be detailed observers. Nick’s answers of “idk”& “i don’t remember” are complete bs!! that’s obvious. you would think him being a trooper he would have covered his tracks better &!had better answers for questions he had to have known would be asked … or he should have. he apparently isn’t very good at his job & lacks overall intelligence

This is very interesting interrogation footage at 26:00. Brooks should be the one sitting where the interrogator is. You're supposed to feel trapped, they do that by placing an interrogator between you and the door. I've never seen an interrogation where they let the suspect sit where brooks is.

The reason it took so long to solve this case is because Bardstown police detectives Did not use proper protocol when investigating crystals disappearance and murder. The good old boys network for the thin blue line gang. Disgusting.

Agreed I believe they had absolutely zero evidence against him at the time, and it was more of a fact that extracting interview thst was never going to get confrontational during that meeting. There was never an interrogation feel to it. Plus, his brother being a deputy at the same department could have played a part. It shouldn't have, and I also agree with you regardless that they should have put Brooks at any disadvantage that they could.

@@blckber4499 Yeah, you're probably right. Seems crazy that he was able to be free all these years. The part about his brother being employed there probably is a key reason why they sat him there. It's such a subtle thing though, easy to overlook unless you specifically learn about why they do it. Oh well.

Um … he’s rich come from money she’s single mother of 5 children he already made it clear her other children was not his priority , killing her and hiding her body was as easy as killing a dog, he can’t see himself in jail for her life.. Dad got killed bc he was getting close to finding the truth .. Him being in the relationship was for his own needs ( sex) not love ,commitment,companionship, she said or did something that had him show her how meaningless she truly was to her.. He was not wanting to pay her child support in the least amount , so him and his brother devised a scheme to eliminate her … The crazy thing about this is the fact that nobody else in her life would do her like that but someone that didn’t see her goodness, that leads the police to nobody but him … the obvious is apparent .. ijs 🙏🏾🙏🏾🕊🕊❤️❤️💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾❣️❣️❣️

I’d say she uncovered who shot officer Jason Ellis and she couldn’t leave knowing that kind of information. Notice how the murders stopped once Nick Houck was fired? Except for Tommy being shot, but we all know who killed him and what the motive was.

When he’s being interviewed and he gets a phone call and then he starts saying things like I don’t think she ran away with another guy and all of this other stuff he was saying literally makes him seem more guilty and he’s trying to. He’s basically trying to push himself away from him doing anything and trying to blame somebody else which I believe that She’s a very loyal woman, and with that many children, I believe she is loyal, or was loyal

That isn't so? They expected him to be fair? He ignored the four Children living in the home! I had three step-children and three of my own from a previous marriage. Fortunately I wasn't living with with a Boyfriend, I was Married, meaning that you Marry the WHOLE LOT, THE MAN and the CHILDREN. Yes, they had a Mom. And they had ME! I was reliable, treated them fairly, did not replace their Mom, nor disciplined them harshly. I was kind and listened, they were teenagers and my Children were under ten so different bedtimes and privileges I had to make adjustments for? My income was included for their child- support payments! That is the Law! My husband and I paid the Child Support every Month! We never missed one Month! My ex never paid for his off-spring? My Children never suffered for it!

Ok. So, devils advocate - I don’t find it odd that Crystal wouldn’t wanna deal with a call at midnight …. Plenty of times I’m right beside my husband and he will tell whomever I’m asleep or busy so I don’t have to talk. This isn’t the gotcha that I feel they think it is.
