Nope, women putting effort into their appearance and appealing to sexyness only helps to reinforce patriarchal norms about female objectification, sexualization and beauty standards. You, as an individual, do not exist in a vacuum outside of social norms and your actions help to push them forward. Like imagine a point in time, where women at large still lived up to beauty standards, but kept appealing to "I'm doing this because I like it, not because of society". Would this not normalize the ideas of beauty? Beauty standards aren't going away if women keep living up to them.

When season 2 comes out, do not watch it. Don't discuss it. Don't upload clips of it. Don't even make jokes about it. Or there will be more seasons of it, and more like it. The only way tae kill it is with irrelevance. Trust me on this. I'm a Sith, we know how tae kill things.
@DenModeforrealМісяць тому
Sad thing is, it will be discussed and watched just to see how it’ll happen, even though people might hate it, somehow, it’ll still spark a curiosity to some people who may or may not have watched it as a whole.
@darthlazurus4382Місяць тому
@DenModeforreal You speak true and it irritates me greatly. The solution tae dealing with this shite is obvious but fucking people won't commit tae it.

You are absolutely right, it is a shame that people see it equally out of morbidity. Anyway, another good tip is to watch it pirated if you are so curious.

Also is it me or did this scene end up being a critique of slasher films that always have a weird habit of sexualising the hell out of a woman whilst also using the character’s sexuality as some “ha told you so moment”. I feel like this would’ve of been the intention had it been in a better show.

The funniest thing to me about this Velma show is that the show is absolute rubbish, but the people hating on it are just as dumb if not dumber than the people who made it. The criticisms I see of it in the comment section are embarrassingly bad. "when the show is so bad that the audience agrees with the bully more than the main character" - Dude we are SUPPOSED to agree with the mean girl in this scene, the whole episode was about showing Velma that her condescending and strict world view is wrong and just as bad as the things she is fighting against. The show has a million flaws, but one flaw it doesn't have is a marry sue protagonist. They clearly show that velma is a flawed character that needs to grow up "I cant believe they made a show with a rude and condescending protagonist and expected it to be good" - Literally tons of shows have protags that are terrible or annoying people and the shows still end up being amazing. Breaking bad, Bojack Horseman, South park, Dan vs. I can keep going. The issue with this show isnt that Velma starts off as a flawed and annoying person, its that they didnt execute her character and growth correctly. Also the show just isnt funny, and the other characters are not interesting in the least. Media literacy skiIIs are so rare nowadays. Im losing braincells reading these comments
