Yeah I remember playing Final Fantasy XIII-2 back in the day and thinking "well everyone says XIII is bad, but I quite liked this game" and I've put XIII in my backlog ever since. I've noticed the combat is quite similar and XIII-2 story was also quite linear, so I'm pretty sure I'd like XIII as well. I can understand people wanting a different kind of game, but going all out to saying it's a bad game also doesn't seem right.

Mad love for the Resident Evil operation Racoon city mention. I used to play that alone for hours too just learning all the little ins and outs of characters and weapons. Wished that game had a revival.

Funny because ff13 was my first final fantasy game, and I liked it lol. I didn't realize it was hated until I saw what UKpostsrs thought about it

I really liked Operation Raccoon City. Got it when it came out, didn't understand why people were dogging on it so hard. Came out 7 months before RE6. Yeah, RE5 had its issues, but most of it was down to the partner AI and the game's story just completely falling apart in the third act. Still, 5 wasn't that heavily hated to warrant the unending seething hate that ORC got. It's a game where you play as Hunk and his squad. My only issue was shoehorning in the main characters from 2 and 3 for no reason, but their appearances were pretty brief. DmC is also way overhated and it was only hated because of the change to Dante. Guaranteed if that was actually DMC5 or a game set somewhere in the main timeline, people wouldn't have cried like they did.

I love the characters of ff13 and its inner franchise. It has a unique concept within the entire Fabula Nova Crystalis franchise. I also love DmC. Screw haters. I love me some scrappy little punk underdog guy with a heart of gold

Since you're looking for those hidden gems or diamonds in the rough kind of games, I suggest taking a look at some of the games that Game Republic had made. They were known for making Folklore on the PS3 but some of their other games like Majin & The Forsaken Kingdom and Knights Contract are actually good. Not masterpieces but enjoyable games.

I can understand why DmC was hated, but it's definitely a decently fun game

Gotta admit, I dislike Final Fantasy 13 but i've only played about 4ish hours of it. Game just never grabbed me and I didn't understand the combat well enough to beat bosses because of my being a functional moron.
