In this video tutorial I show you how to make The Best Apple Pie you've ever tasted. I've made these in my Bakeries in the UK and also here in Spain for 60 years. It's a real Traditional Apple Pie with NO Celebrity Frills.
The Best Apple Pie Recipe
For a 20cm (8”) Plate Pie
.
1kg Granny Smith Apples
120g Sugar (White or Brown)
Juice of a large Lemon
50g Unsalted Butter
1/4 teaspoon powdered Cloves
1 level tablespoon Cornflour
Approx. 400g My Basic Shortcrust Pastry

Greetings Mr Paul from Huddersfield. I really hope you are getting better, I believe you to be one of the good guys. I made your apple pie today and it was absolutely wonderful. The thickening of the juice from the apples is pure genius. You once commented that your channel is not about fancy food but simple home style cooking. But when simple food is cooked well I enjoy it as much as any fancy smanshy restaurant food. Lovely recipe, Mr Paul. My mother always cooked apples before making apple pie. I followed that tradition until I ran into a Hairy Bikers recipe that didn't do that I use both methods now and get great results either way. Welcome back. Hope everything went OK with your health

Thanks Mr. Paul, this apple pie looks lovely. Seeing the difference a proper baker like you, compared to my hit and miss endeavours, is very enlightening. Can't wait to try this recipe, but still have your wonderful rainbow cake, that I made yesterday, to finish devouring first. Hi. Today bounced upon your channel. Lovely. I actually overbaked a pie for 5 mins following another recipe and the top layer was crisp like biscuit..bottom layer was like soft. How is it actually supposed to be

Hi Mr Paul. Nice to see you again. And what a lovely pie. I'm nervous with pastry but after making yours the other week I've got confidence . I've got my apples so I'm going to make this pie. I only have whole cloves. Do you think I could add them and then take them out after. If so how many would you add. Again thank you.

Hi Belinda, Yes, I usually use whole cloves, fir this recipe you will need 4 whole clove. A little tip, when using things like cloves or even plums etc. always count them in and then you know how many to look for when removing them.
