Everyone saying you miss the old taylor, you miss her long straight hair, you miss her being more feminine, you miss her being sexy.... Taylor says "don't try for perfect it's never enough." She's clearly done just being rock's newest sex symbol. She's so much more than that. Proved it in this album. She's not a pop star. She probably got sick of all the questions in interviews about her style and appearance over the music.. She's almost weeding out real fans from gimmicky ones.. if you appreciate her musical talent, song writing talent etc, you'll dig the new album. She's on a path that i think is gaining more respect music wise and the band's audience is growing well past 16-20 year olds. Rock isn't dead, it's alive in this band and i think She's going to eventually be in the rock n roll hall of fame, when shes like 60 lol. Can't wait to hear all the music they come out with in that time span, hope they stick with it :D also, she's still sexy and i quite like her showing a more brash side that doesn't give a f*** lol

Hey, love your comment!! I agree, when she screams, 'I'm just a face painted in mud' you can tell she hates the idea of being just a sex symbol. The whole album describes her struggle with her life. I for one love her like this, people will take her more seriously now instead of being just there for the 'boobs'. She said in an interview she regrets all that and all she cares about is the music. She's literally there for the music now.

Emerald Eyes that also is just her humbling herself. When i met her i froze and didnt say anything but she smiled at me and was very sweet. When i walked out, her manager lady told me she's just a girl ya know!! Lol. I have experience with celebs now and they really are just people like us. It's hard to break through that hollywood illusion. I'm pretty sure taylor's sick of it. She wants to make music heard by everyone who likes it but seems to HATE fame. She's passionate about music. I think she regrets doing gossip girl. Lol

stick2thevelcro8 absolutely, what you said is so true. I got introduced to her music in early 2016 when I heard 'under the water' , I was blown away, it was deep. I started following her on twitter and found her to be really humble. Since then I have chatted with her a couple of times, she treats me and other fans like friends. She reads what we are commenting and likes them, shares. I have always connected to her on a human level. You can tell she's comfortable on that level. People relate to her through her gossip girl image and being a sex symbol and yes she hates that. She thinks everyone deserves a private life and fame takes away that. Who you selling for is so real in emotions, I really connected with her, you can hear the depth of her life and thoughts in it. I also plan to meet her when I get the chance :) she's really sweet and nice.

Her voice isn't ruined at all. She's singing/screaming like this because it captures the theme of this song. Self loathing, anger and hatred. The video represents the lyrics very well also. The split screen is supposed to make you feel a bit uncomfortable, kind of what you feel mentally. And it represents the left and right side of the brain. I can't believe people are saying this video is bad because it's not on a high budget and even go as far as saying TPR isn't good because Taylor isn't a 'sex symbol' anymore. It's about the music, not their appearance. Y'all are crazy.

these lyrics are really relatable. i fucking love this. and i love how badass the song is. its the rock that i came for and stayed for. its so rare now a days to still find good music like this. everybody is turning over to pop. and whatever is "in" at the moment. i love the message and the vibes that Taylor is sending us. it has a meaning. and its classic. i love that she's holding onto the true meaning of rock music.

Some songs that are "in" are very good. You just need to be selective and open your mind, because you are on the other side of the extreme spectrum. Listen to any Twenty One Pilots song, Sia song, Melanie Martinez song. Listen to Lost on You by LP or anything else by them. Yes, rock music is awesome, but your vision is just as much a tube as a brainwashed person's, with a slight taste difference. I didn't mean to offend you, I just wanted to help you stop being that bitter about today's popular music. Have a really nice day or night.

OMG?! Maria and In This Moment are my FAVORITE! I even have lyrics from "whore" inked across my chest! I had NEVER heard of Taylor and The Pretty Reckless until today! (I also discovered Eleine....that woman has some fucking pipes, too!) I OFFICIALLY have a girl crush on 3 lead singers from my FAVORITE genre! Maria, Taylor, and Madeleine have AMAZING talent! From the videos I've seen, I think all 3 are ABSOLUTELY BANGIN'! I don't see what the issue seems to be with Taylor's transformation! I think it's a GORGEOUS transition! I love Taylor's evolution so much. She's so talented and she doesn't need to be a sex symbol the way she was, her talent speaks for itself. She's gorgeous anyway. I love seeing her grow and change throughout all of her albums and I hope The Pretty Reckless stays around forever and ever. Frankly I like her better with this style. She's my only female idol and I love that she's out there being this amazing. Can't wait to see more of their progression as a band.

I saw TPR in Indianapolis warming up for Soundgarden ten days before Chris Cornell’s death. Taylor has written about meeting Chris backstage and talking music, about Chris dedicating “By Crooked Steps” to TPR, and how much this meant to her. I come at this from a different angle than many fans - I’m Cornell’s age, not Taylor’s. I have a daughter nearly as old as her, so her obvious and undeniable beauty never was the overarching appeal to her - it’s the fact that she’s a rocker. Deep down inside, she’s a punk rocking, barrier-shattering rocker. And there aren’t enough of these kinds of folks any more, particularly not her age. I have a 13 year-old son who saw that concert with me. He also joined me at the Foo Fighters, and will be attending Iron Maiden and Metallica concerts this year. His view of Taylor is probably what one would expect from a 13 year-old boy (but I don’t ask LOL). That’s OK. I write all of this because I’m struggling to understand what the debate is about “old” Taylor vs. “new” Taylor. She must already put up with a ton of crap as Cindy Lou Who compared to the goth blonde look, but musicians evolve. Music evolves. So long as she doesn’t sell out *her own* soul, WGAF. My advice to Taylor? Ignore the BS. Do what you feel, but play the long game. Don’t burn yourself out young - or even less-than-young, as Chris did. If you want a ballad, sing a freaking ballad. If you want to scream a punk song, scream away. But protect that wonderful voice - keep training so that you can scream without damage, and because I’m old enough to be your dad and 10 years without cigarettes, quit freaking smoking. That voice is too damned awesome to destroy that way. And eat your vegetables. Sorry, it’s what dads do. Get off my lawn.

I absolutely love it. if you find it annoying you obviously don't get the meaning behind it. The concept of both screens represents the right and left part of the brain, one part realistic/scientific and one dreamer/creative. I like videos like these way more than a simple video with a storyline, just like The Pretty Reckless' lyrics it has a deeper meaning.

I knew an Indian woman who considered bleaching her skin and she apparently hated her eye-color and hair-color. I also knew a rather dark-skinned Spanish woman, who thought similar (but also considered herself too fat...) and both of them lived in a place where most people wanted to tan their skin... Why do we always want to be what we are not? Well, it´s not quite that I would like to be black, but if I could create my character as in an RPG, then I would have little in common with my current human form...

I actually really like the filming here. I kind of wish there were four different screens instead of just two though. Then there wouldn't be as much empty black and I feel like it could have brought the video up a level. The song itself is life, though.

I kind of thought the new album was a tribute to the band's inspirations. Hangman had a lot of Alice in Chains vibes. This has a grunge/Motorhead sound. They have some old school blues stuff and Southern rock thrown in, and all of the slower songs have a distinct Beatles feel to them. It feels like this album was written by rock fans.

Alexander Mantooth thinking the same, which I get why they would. The amount of interviews they get with the same questions asking them about their musical influences - it feels like this album is an answer to that. Its cool to be inspired, many artists are but the ratio should be more evenly spread. This album comes across as a lot of ripped material placed with their own words rather than their own feel. I understand inspiration can influence songs but it shouldn't be done so strongly that the whole album feels more of a cover album rather than an actual album. With LMU and GTH, they had fine-tuned their niche but with WYSF it feels as tho they've lost and are trying to find new sounds and new inspiration. its a cool album, I do love it but I miss the old vibes.

It's great to see some kids that have the same influences I did playing music. And for a while I thought everyone had gone hip hop, crap, or was using autotune... This band and those Led Zep sounding guys ummm Great Van Fleet have given me a reason to listen to music again. This song has a kind of grunge feel to it to me.

Oh My God. This is what great music is all about. This band just gets better and better with each lp. I am an old fart and I love hearing real music instead of the crap being forced down our throats from I heart and clear channel.
