Used to say "be in before dark or the wood booger might get you." She was from coal country west Virginia. God rest her soul. I really thought she was pulling my leg, but the truth came to light 4 year ago, after finding so much research on the Sasquach.

I've heard of sightings of both bigfoots and dogmen living (sometimes) in abandoned buildings on the outskirts of Detroit Michigan.

Hi Nance, does an old rickety shack count? A bunch of kids and I (age 11) walked deep in the woods behind our apartment and came across a giant nest in the middle of an old shack. This was in 1976/77, in upstate New York (near Albany). The shack was made of wood pallets and tar paper. It had one of its walls pulled down and laying on the side, and it stank like skunk and rotten meat. It had bones of small animals scattered around the outside. The nest itself was made of grass straw and thin branches. Needless to say, we got out of there very quickly. We thought a crazy man or some bear had lived there. We never once suspected Sasquatch. I guess ignorance is bliss. Hello from the Republic of Texas!!!

It’s actually pretty common for Sasquatches to take shelter in abandoned houses and buildings in relatively rural locations. Unfortunately, the same is true of Dogman, except Dogman has been known to inhabit abandoned buildings close to, or even inside, cities. Explore abandoned buildings at your own risk!

That was an Awesome Story Ms.Nance!! I can also honestly say I've never heard another story about a BIGFOOT living in a old abandoned house either. Now I saw a video of a bear living in the basement of one though. Even the thought of that is creepy as hell!! I'm very glad of the fact that after they went back the second time they didn't go back until they needed to do so. I too was surprised that their mama had already heard about the wood boogers before they told her about their encounter story. Also, I'm glad they checked to make sure it wasn't in there right before they had the house torn down. I don't think that the Dad and son, nor the demolition crew would have gotten over the fact that something or someone was killed while tearing the house down. I know I wouldn't have, cause it would have been my fault for NOT CHECKING!! And that goes in line with your catchphrase Ms.Nance. Absence Of Proof Is Not Proof Of Absence!! Wow! That was quite an interesting story and encounter! Truthfully, I am surprised that the Bigfoot allow you just to see it and back away. I am surprised that it did not get aggressive and yell and scream and chase you away, and then start throwing things at the new house or at the new build of your son’s house. And, I have heard other encounters where they will attack the equipment where people are trying to take down an old structure or build a new one. In my opinion, you are lucky that you did not experience a lot more negative activity! I think the only negative experience you had in this Case was actually seeing one inside of that old Homestead. And, yes, that would absolutely be frightening and terrifying! But, somehow, thank the good Lord above, you were able to get away with no real negative hardships! Now, this is just my opinion, but I believe you guys got off relatively easily! Thank you so much for sharing this very interesting encounter! Sincerely.

I'm going entirely by memory on this so I could be wrong, but I seem to remember in one of Rusty Wilson's books - I think it was the one about Alaskan bigfoots? - there was a chapter about a family of bigfoots living in the basement of a rental cabin. They were not happy when renters stayed there. So it's not exactly the same kind of situation, but pretty close, I think!

They have been in barns in a couple of stories you’ve read Nance.

I think they caught a Teenage Bigfoot at his "Spot" or clubhouse Lol where he gets away from mom and dad and chills.

There actually has been one other account of a sasquatch taking shelter in a home that I know of... I don't recall the persons involved names... But the story involved a old family home that lay near these long line 6 foot deep trenches... Of which the squalch was utilizing to closely and under cover come and go to the back door basement... The old family home had been not utilized by the family anymore... But they also knew of their existence in and around the location having seen them utilizing the trench systems over the years... They happened to come to the old farm after it not being occupied for awhile of which the squalch was heard then seen in the basement and after it exited in hurry out the back basement door the nest was also seen in one of the rooms... The father apparently had been conversing with them and gifting them during the time frame the family had lived there... Not sure if the squalch had been living there summer and winter or year round... But the time the family had come into the house and it went out the back basement door it was noted in the account as having been winter time...

I have heard of other encounters where they take up residence in abandoned buildings. In one encounter, some young boys, cousins, went exploring where they were instructed not to. It was an abandoned barn with antique farm equipment. One of them got caught in a hole and aggressively guarded by a bigfoot. His cousin flagged down a neighboring farmer to help. It was an agreesive troop as well. Another was of dogmen residing in an old trailor, witnessed by a young man. I believe he might have had a friend with him? That man now has his own youtube channel from his experience. Dustin maybe? Anytime we pass by old country delapitated homes i always comment as a sort of creepy joke, "Oh yeah, theres a troop living in THAT one!" Of course, i wouldnt know, lol.

I don't know but if I was strapped to hunt the second trip and go on a 22:23 Bigfoot hunt like the story goes.. I would have completed the hunt and made a sacrifice for science and I guess coming with it , fame and some fortune and a place in history books. But I'm certain our Govt. has Sasquatch/s remains. I read recently that 6,000 people disappear , come up missing yearly in our national forest and not due to getting lost or predated by mountain lions , wolves or bears according to the article. Mostly by ET's according to the article and all Wildlife Officers are told not let the missing be known to the general public and only reported to a specific source. Said that would become missing were actually gone for they would just vanish sometimes in front of many witnessing eyes later to be strictly told to hush...and I'm sure "or you'll...." Just maybe some could be due to a Bigfoot also
