It's okay if dad is helping out in the background, the most important concept is that they're growing a likeness for a subject most kids find horrifying because of over-strict teaching methods. They're going to love doing math with this type of positive reinforcement and it genuinely won't be a problem in future to excel at math because they'll enjoy it and by default, enjoy using their time to learn it. Even though I love my own parents anyone to have parents like these two are so lucky!

My mom and Dad are like this. Dad always give what we want but mom always restrict even the small enjoyments. As a kid I always hate ma mom for that. But when I became a teenager things changed, my mom got hospitalised for like 1 month. She was the one with discipline, my Dad would literally allow anything to eat or stay up the whole night. I realised that we want someone in our life to just keep limits, teach the values and scold for the mistakes.
