This is a Korean show from the late 90's. I watched this show when I was young. At that time, MMA was not well known in Korea. It may seem awkward from the point of view of modern martial arts, but it was a great match at the time. But this show was for kids, and the purpose of the show was to answer kid's curiosity. Therefore, the two martial artists focused on showing the characteristics of each martial arts rather than a confrontation that hurt each other, and the result was a draw.

Yes, the Monk was more relaxed; TKD Master was intense and focused. I'm a TKD Blackbelt and would have liked to have seen some contact.
@surfwriter8461Рік тому
Yes, both are clearly avoiding hard contact; I assume that was the plan. So it's mainly a showcase for style differences, not martial arts power or effectiveness in combat. I would also say both styles could be considered external or hard styles, unlike internal styles Tai Chi and Bagua, though the Shaolin monk is definitely trained in using chi in combination with strikes and kicks. That's not the same as "jin" power which is internal power in various forms and can be used in concert with technique or without it.
