I'm proud to be Sierra Leonean. Even though I grew up in the UK home is home. I belong to the major tribes of Sierra Leone. I'm mixed and my mum is decent of those who moved from Guinea and Mali. Making my mum a second-generation Sierra Leonean. Mixed LimbaTemne, Mende Shabro, Mandingo, and Susu. It's not impossible to be from all these tribes. My parent's parents came from different tribes. Sierra Leoneans have a reputation for marrying other tribes.

This is because of similarities in culture since most of our ancestors are from Jallonkadu (Fouta Jallon) or Mandinka (Mali) Empire. This video is well researched and most of what is narrated is what I was taught in Senior Secondary School (High School) in Sierra Leone.

Hello. Thank you for sharing all this information. I subscribed to your channel. I am African American that traced my mother’s lineage to the Mende and Temne people via DNA test but on my father’s side I have 5th great grandparents that were born in Africa in the 1700s found on the United States Census that my father’s family knew about a long time ago. My 5th great grandmother was born in Guinea in Mandinka land. She was taken from Guinea to Georgia to work on the Shy plantation. That’s how my father’s family got the name Shy. We are Mandinka and Fula according to my family. Peace and love brother and thank you for sharing the history. 💚

Read about the Themne fight against colonisation by our leader Bai Bureh who fought the British and had to give himself up because the British started slautering the Themne people because when the tribe caught white people in battles he made them work I the farms as last labourers which made the colonisers so angry that they went on to kill Themnes by burning villages and murdering women and children, thus forcing Bai Bureh to give himself up to the British to save his people. They imprisoned and banish him to Ghana and finally to the Caribbean.

It's almost as if we were not there at all. Now it's hard for me to choose a movie or show to watch on Netflix because there are not enough movies to choose from that have men and women who look like me in them. I imagine a movie like your videos, being made. That would fill my heart with so much joy.

@@RoyELPriesthood Which means hypothetically your 2x great was born in the 1850s or 60s, and your 3x was born in the 1820s or 30s. The migration to the West Indies occurred in the 1840s - 50s so technically your great grandmothers mother (your 2x) would’ve been to young to make that migration on their own. One of your 3x grandparents was likely a Sierra Leonean , who took up work in St.Kitts . So your 2x was either born in Sierra Leone and raised in St . Kitts or Born in St. Kitts after your 3x grandparents left Sierra Leone .

I love this series, and learning at the different tribes. If everyone knew this history, they would have more respect for our culture. I am from South Carolina. I have respect for the Gullah people of Charleston, South Carolina. They still fight to keep their heritage and history. I remember watching a local news story. About in particular, a woman in her 90's who is fighting to keep her land. That has been in her family for generations. This company, is trying to have blacks sell their land. So that, they can develop it. She is in her 90s and will not sell. It is a part of her heritage. She knows the importance of keeping that land. And making sure that people remember; the sacrifices to keep their culture and to even own that land. God bless you for doing this important work. And the success of your channel.

This is everything 🧩 missing pieces of my family storyline. We had bits of Oral history. But this definitely put a stamp on it. Much appreciated 🎯👑💯

Thank you so much for this video. I was born and raised in the states, but both my parents are from Freetown. I remember my father say Krio was the first "civilized people" in Sierra Leone. If he is correct, then that means my people are Krio? Anyway.. this is an awesome video

African history is like the ancient water that bares witness to the cutting and carving and shaping the landscape of the Sons of God, from the moment it was spoken to the glory days😂😂❤❤ that it will return to! Perfection!
