Yeah hope and the blissed and gone (studio version, with the dude from cheap trick) us on that still becoming apart EP TOO Okay one more thing before I go and I absolutely promise I'm going to go this time Just because I remember waiting online and getting the free EP it reminds me of when we waited online in Chicago for the last show James gave out a cd of the "first show" at the metro (it wasn't really the first Smashing Pumpkins show but it was the first Show with Jimmy chamberlin on Drums) and I saved mine in a cute little plastic blue jewel case but it had hand doodled artwork duplicated /reproduced by James. So... I dunno. Even those 1989 songs .. Even the 88 demos In fact, most of the pre-gish psychedelic stuff ROCKED HE JUST CAN DO NO WRONG. time will prove me right. He's just a genius and I still think the future embrace and his first acoustic solo album , pisces Iscariot, machina 2, Judas ∅ and Mary star of the sea are just as good as anything else he's ever put out by SP or ON smashing pumpkins albums. @@idorus I was lucky enough to see the last tour. Soma was phenomenal. It’s always been the song that hits me the hardest. I was going through some personal shit at the time...I was also drunk...”I’m all by myself”...burst into tears. Cried for the remaining two hours. It was cathartic. Helped me realise I’d been pretending to be strong for too long and needed to rebuild myself. It was almost a religious experience for me. I’ve never felt so alive and emotional. A perfect moment. The melancholy of my soul expressed in music, and live. It was a perfect moment even if it was during a state of grief.

I thought Jimmy’s drumming on Solara was incredible. The fills are blistering. I love this track too, he just has a sense of groove that is astounding. And he can punish the cans, power and finesse.

@@bryanbooher8675 I agree, I think the drumming on Solara was good. To me, at least, it just felt a little... Mechanical? A little too organized... like every single hit was pre-planned, sort of. That's just how I took it. With this, it just feels groovy, and jazzy, and just all over the place, like he was "released" or something, haha. Both great songs though :)

Let me try to explain: i feel like he developed this strange, monotonous, one intensity singing style after the classic SP era. Maybe you just can't stress your vocal cords that much when getting older, i dunno. I, for my part, just miss the soft, breathy passages, the angry shouting ... the variety, all in all. I always loved the ups and downs, the contrast in intensity etc. when it came to SP ... now it's all just one intensity level from beginning to end, if you know what i mean.

It’s just not mixed in a way that most of us old people find pleasing. His vocals since Zeitgeist seem to be mixed really up front, and quite dry (little to no reverb). This certainly puts his singing front and centre - and his singing has absolutely improved - but it doesn’t gel with the band’s mix as well. Some people notice this and find it irritating, even if they can’t put their finger on why. (Spoken as an actual professional musician and audio engineer)

It started when he sang 'the world is a vampire' on a hit single and they made vampire/smb ghost emoji tee shirts promoting it ... So... Since 1995/96? That is, if you were being serious. Rhetoric and sarcasm don't translate well with text
