The beauty of the Weeknd's music is that you can feel the pain in his voice. Some people call it mumble singing and it's almost that- except he's not mumbling. It gives the illusion of someone crying out for help- the exact same feeling as having a panic attack or feeling alone and wanting to break out of that rut. He's the perfect artist for when ur going through s*it and need something healing to listen to.
