It's kinda funny that Sci Fi was everywhere in the 90's, early 2000's while Fantasy was nowhere, now it's the opposite and we have no classic Sci Fi (not TNG or Stargate level anyway) but the big league Fantasy books are making it to TV screens.

@@RaggedVentures I thought of that too and it makes me think they want to keep even the rebirth of ages, or, too much detail about it, out of the trailer too. To be fair, the tie-in of many of these things aren't immediately known to the younger, more naive characters who've only ever known life from the perspective of Two Rivers. In their community, they are country folk who don't put much stock in prophecies and lore, they sort of balk at such things. Until the Bel Tine festival changes everything for them. Moiraine and Lan will be educating them on alot of these things.

If you are a long time fan, how is this a dream for you when they completely sabotaged and changed everything that was in the books? The attention to detail is so bad that this doesnt even reflect the original source material in any way? But enjoy the objectively horrible writing and wholly lacking attention to details that were omitted, at every level and layer of the show; That are ALL, written and outlined, and were fully available to the writers in the source material. It is one thing to create a adaptation, Here, they have completely abandoned and in some cases fully inverted core social and world tenants to make statements that are in total contradiction to the world already created, motivated by what is only known by them, but are clear and obvious catering and pandering to a certain audience and demographic , one that that ISN'T the fans of the books, bit who simply are entertained by anything bright and shiney and simple minded consumers of anything advertised. Enjoy what you like, but don't try and then use bias and fallacy to argue or prove your opinion when the facts are simple and clear cut. I'm arguing fact. I just don't understand how you can't see they pulled elements from the books. There were creative minds behind the show that read the books 30 times or so. These books meant a lot to me aswell when I was in my early teens and was struggling to find meaning in this world. But I found that connection in WoT. I've recently started a reread becasue of this show, it's bringing so much nostalgia back. It feels like divine justice that WoT would get a TV show. I remember hearing rumours and whispers years back about an Amazon TV show. I didn't believe it for one second. I share your feelings of awe seeing it on the big screen. Finally all my friends who heard about the epic stories and epic characters will get to experience it for themselves albeit in a different way

you know the books have a dictionary in them, that shows pronunciation. literally all of the names and words.

I'm super excited about this as a fan of the books since the early 90s, and I love a ton of what I'm seeing but the Trollocs look cartoonish to me. I think they made the 'practical effects' side of it a bit too tacky/obvious. They look like people in costumes. Also, if you pause where Moiraine burns the bird-beaked one near the end, it looks looks almost comical / costume-y. And the Hall of the Tower also still looks off to me (like a staged play). On the flip side, I love everything else. Either way this will be... another turning of the Wheel if you will so it won't match the books exactly. But events will be similar and I'm stoked!

I started reading this series back in '99 and have read them multiple times now. Even made my bookreports about it in high school. Still my favorite series to date. I'm afraid to watch the tv show, as the reviews are divided, but watching this trailer does give me hope it will turn out to be a good show.

I loved the trailer but what really confuses me is the part where Moraine says to her 5 proteges that one of them is destined to become The Dragon Reborn which implies that either Egwene or Nyneve could be The Dragon Reborn but isn't The Dragon Reborn in the books always a male??? I've never read all the books (which I definitely should & want to) but I do know a bit of the lore of The Wheel of Time and from what I recall The Dragon Reborn is always a guy and since The Dark One cursed all male mages during the era of the previous Dragon, The Dragon Reborn ends up both worshipped & feared because there's an equal chance that The Dragon Reborn can either save or destroy the world due to The Dark One's curse. If that's the case in the books than why would the showrunners seemingly imply that Egwene & Nyneve could be TDR when that does not keep in line with the lore as established in the books???

Wouldn't be surprised if they bring in some of the story from New Spring.

They look nothing like Trollocks. Not at all. They are shitty discounted trolls at best. Trollocks are supposed to be monstrous chimeras, human and animal hybrids. The first ones we see, with Rand and Tam in the hut are an eagle and wolf based ones, the wolf one even speaks briefly. These bastardizations all look the same and while they may look "ok" for generic monsters, they are, like so much of this show, so far removed from the source material to be unrecognizable.

yes! how did you know? haha the ending was a huge disappointment. the only reason i watched the show because i'm a huge Heroes of Might and Magic gamer, and this show pretty much fit the same narrative. the use of Chain Lightning is a signature move of the game, much like the show. from a logistical point, that final battle was dumb. the king could have ordered the magi to break the mountain sides right on the minotaurs and wipe them all out instantly. or have vats of oil flood the canyon, then light it up. clearly mindless writing.

@@jakeraught4939 really? I just read the first book after finishing season 1 and they weren't that different the only huge difference that I noticed was the ending and the time they were separated seemed a lot longer in the books than the show besides that I say they did a good job.

I have to admit I have a healthy skepticism that the showrunner Rafe Judkins is competent enough to adapt this series. He does not have a great deal of experience that I can see when I Google him. He's got credits on a couple shows but wasn't the executive director on them, he was in assistant roles, it looks like.

@@ljc6181 I'm glad I read the books first, they are fantastic. But of course they cut and changed. They'll have to do 2 books per season on average. That's a lot to read in 3 weeks. But moreover, a lot is going to get lost even if its great. That's necessary and it's okay. I have some hope because, well... at least the books are finished.

When I heard a few months ago that the show was coming I started the books. I have nearly finished book 3. I am looking forward to the rest of the books. TV is a very different medium from books. They will have to make changes, but it is interesting to notice the changes and consider why those changes were made.

@@ljc6181 thank you for that, I recently started getting into books when I decided to start my bucket list on books I'm interested in and right now I'm finishing a lot of Arthurian legends and celtic mythology that's getting me inspired to read adventure and fantasy books.
