In the 2005 film version Wonka acts like he's killing the kids but never does because we see them leave but why does Wonka act like he's harming them in the first place? In the first room The Oompa Loompas said that they were going to boil Augustus ( in a deleted scene ) and although that was cut they originally intended for this line to be in the movie which means they were probably going to boil him on top of this Wonka also told the Oompa Loompas to start poking around until they found Augustus which also could have caused harm to him , in the second room he said that they will have the squeeze Violet like a little pimple to bring her back to normal size which clearly scares Violet's mom and when Violet calls out Wonka's name for help he doesn't answer her he just continues dancing to the Oppa Loompa song even though it's over, in the third room when Veruca is being attacked by the squirrels he knows what key to use to unlock the gate but for some reason he forgot which key opens the door almost as if he wanted her to fall down there and die to the incinerator on top of this he doesn't even try to reassure veruca's dad that she will be fine he just keeps bringing up stuff about the incinerator which scares everyone there but the two kids that didn't fall down the hole now later he did learn that the incinerator broke he might even know this beforehand but he kept bringing up the incinerator as if he was trying to scare them, and in the final room where Mike shrinks and is taken out of the TV by his dad Wonka says that he is unharmed which angers Mike's dad and before this he asked Mike's dad if he had to choose only one half of his son which one will it be this question seems to worry Mike's dad and later when Wonka says that they should put Mike through the Taffy puller this also scares Mike's dad. Throughout the whole tour Wonka does nothing but scare the kids and their parents into thinking that they are going to die and we never know why in fact no one seems to question this not even Grandpa Joe and Charlie even though when Charlie asked if Augustus will be fine Grandpa Joe tell him that he will be fine but then give us a weird look so he really knows that something is up with the factory but the minute all the other kids are gone with their parents he forget about it? Why did he forget about it the guy literally brought up cannibalism in front of them in the first room and says that it is frowned upon in most societies and he says it's almost as if he's disappointed this is possibly another instance when he's trying to scare the kids wherever you go in this Factory this man will stop at nothing to make sure by the time you enter this Factory and by the time you leave you will be scared to death thinking that you were going to die but never did but why did he do this? Well if he kills the kids and their parents people would point fingers at him immediately because there was a whole crowd of people outside of the factory who would be there to justify that the kids didn't come out which means they must have died in the factory And he didn't want to ruin his chocolate business so instead he scared the kids into thinking that they were going to die only to let them out of the factory so that they can tell the crowd outside what happened but because they didn't actually die and didn't have actual evidence no one would believe them and as for Charlie's Family he forces them to stay in the factory so they don't expose his Factory for the living lawsuit that it is and by making sure that Charlie's Family stays in the factory and by making sure that the kids that leave the factory can't sue him his living lawsuit of a factory we can remain open and when he dies he has to plans to give the factory to Charlie so his legacy and tragedy of a Factory can remain open.

I think Willy Wonka said that the furnace wasn't on and the garbage would break their fall, but I might be thinking of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I don't know how no one ever notices this but after Augustus disappears and they go to the boiler room Willy wonka grabs a coat and boils it and if you pay attention you will notice its the same coat Augustus was wearing

Not a bad theory, however what drives me nuts is the fact that it's easier to see the details you pointed out in this version of the story. This might be why Dahl hated the original 1971 movie. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory does a much better job of sticking to the book, and keep the magic and the child like wonder of the factory at the forefront, after all Dahl was in fact trying to tell the story from a child's perspective, and not the adult's angle.

Honestly I love this film, though people have their ups and downs with this movie I think it's a very interesting take on **Charlie and the Chocolate Factory** and I kinda like that it focuses more on Willy Wonka instead of Charlie. Even though there are some weird and questionable parts of the movie, the humor in it makes up for the weirdness in the movie (for some people like me). At least that's my opinion. Oh yeah, also since I'm more of a horror movie fan I honestly really like this theory. This movie (other than Jurassic Park) is literally the only non horror movie I like. I especially like the weirdness in tge movie and this theory is really good. I wouldn't mind if this was Willy Wonka's true intetions, that would have honestly made a good twist in the movie if your theory was true.

cool therory ..My opinion is that Wonka set each trap for each kid .He had to test them there greed .. Also all the traps that he set up Wonka knew that they would not kill the child .He acted like it would but all his traps were not made to kill just to take them out of the competition..There a line in the movie where it says they will not be harmed .In the remake near the end you see all the kids who lost walk out the front gate ..I guess to show that they were not killed ...Stay well eat some chocolate
