Smilla is a beast. Going 5 rounds with constant pressure. plus she has very good defense.

Her open hand blocking style is interesting, cupping her face. Couple times she did poke the other girl in the eye though, so she'll have to be careful with a stricter ref. Edit: Clearly her coaches addressed that, as she stopped blocking like that in the later fight. Excellent growth. Good coaching make good fighters in to champions. She'll be a champion someday.

Those are two really good fighters! They both had great stamina! Both had counters to the other’s attacks! The second fight, the girl in the green looked like she was done with 3 first round counts. But she recovered.

I love the small defense area and giving up the leg for quick punches in those few segments. The abs absorbing the stomach and rib kicks are amazing while looking for counters. I just missed a few counter opportunities if defending with elbows instead of forearms and blocks. It's a really minor adjustment that can both block and make them not want to attack there again.

My children and I spent several years learning martial arts and achieving fourth dan black belt levels. They are grown ups now, but I would never allow my own children at age 17 to participate inside an MMA cage competition. During my medical career in the military I saw enough patients with skull fractures from blows received at MMA street fights. I reviewed enough X-Rays showing the damage to the orbitals, temples, cervical spine, ears, occipital and forehead areas. I even had to warn the patients "One more pounding blow to your head, and there goes your military career, or the internal brain hemorrhage will kill you." Today we have enough examples of famous boxers and MMA "artists" who were "forced" to retire from their careers for the very same reasons I listed above. What is a 17 y.o. doing participating in such dangerous, life-threatening practice? And the spectators and commentary here encouraging her. 17 is a tender age when the bones are still developing, and the brain mass is still soft. The fontanelles at the top of the skull are still open. The organs in the abdominal area are vulnerable; She is not an adult yet. I practice martial arts because I may need the discipline and experience for self defense; Not for me, or even my children, to throw their lives away before they even start a career. This girl's family should be ashamed allowing her/putting her up to it. For what? Money? Fame? God Have Mercy 😖

This kid definitely has potential. If she's really serious about this profession and big purses, she needs proper MMA trainers. She never takes head off center line, counter punches are 2secs too slow and easy to see coming. Guard too wide, she's eating straight jabs for lunch. Has to learn to circle counterclockwise & throw. Create her own angles by cutting off opponent. All fundamentals yes, but she's definitely got a future in this profession. At 17 or 18yrs old and has this much raw talent and heart? The right trainers and some seasoning, she's gonna be a big problem for her weight class & it's champ. Huge problem. 👊🏾😎👍🏾
