Unstalled Gscatter onto 4.1 and seems to be smooth sailing so far, no problems here that i have picked up

Installed GScatter into Blender 4.1 ... Initialized the add-on and pointed to the library folder. No issues at this time.

It's not working for me either, it's not applying the scatter. The library appears but does not apply to the object. It didn't work in 4.1 or 4.02, but it worked fine in 3.68

@@user-ud7fk1ni8o same here, does not scatter but the assets are visible within library, on Blender 4.1. Blender 4.0 seems to be working just fine with it

not working on 4.1... i can only spawn assets to scatter later with geo scatter (by far the best and most reliable addon for this task)

gscatter doesnt work in my blender 4.1 - after selecting given aset and choosing "scatter selected" nothing appear on the plane. Environments also dont work. Somenone below also had this issue "i cant see anything when i am trying to make it work. ". Adding single object from library works, scattering not.

Does it give you an error message? Without an error message, I kind of have to assume it's a workflow issue rather than a software issue

@@TheCGEssentials No errors - just nothing happens. As you can read in comments (and not only on your channel) gscatter seems dont work at 4.1 (scattering function). Try yourself and give feedback.

Unfortunately, this offering is kind of Dead on Arrival. Doesn't work properly in 4.1, and if they don't have plans to keep it updated... it have very little use. :( If you work with GScatter in Blender 4.0, save the file, and then open it in Blender 4.1 you can continue working with the plug-in. Odd, but interesting. Thanks for the video -- always appreciate your content.

It's a free plant library that is available in a format that integrates with the add-on, as well is in other popular formats as well, like FBX and Alembic. Even if you can't use Gscatter, you could use something like Biome Reader to scatter the assets - I'd say it's far from DOA, even if you just look at it as an asset pack

Not using the environments. However, the model files themselves would be, as GeoScatter can really scatter anything, so you could just import them as assets and scatter them that way. They don't have GeoScatter Biomes though since up to this point Graswalk and GeoScatter were competitors

@@TheCGEssentials my knowledge on biomes is not great but their basically a collection of assets that get "randomized" onto a surface correct? If that is the case would it be possible then to to create asset collections, that could be scattered like a biome? I looked on geoscatters website and docs but couldn't find anything.

The company decision to drop out the old "3d modeling gigabyte library" says everything. I have hundreds of cut out trees in Photoshop. All useless now. Same with "3d assets" lol. AIGI ( AI Generated Imagery) is killing CGI.

@@user-wh4wm3mw7l Sounds like to me they felt that they'd be more likely to generate revenue with a 3D model creation tool rather than selling a high resolution/high end plant library. It's a business decision. That said, there are plenty of uses for 3D models still, and I personally think the whole "AI is killing CGI" discussion is a stretch. It is CHANGING CGI for sure, but killing it? I don't think so
