I have to admit I was skeptical about this build when I first saw it. I was also skeptical about how the LED’s would look on a mostly natural build. But the final result was breathtaking. It’s amazing to see the process of something with this much detail being made real! Great editing keep that up. It’s always nice when it’s ready to assemble and the anticipation of finishing it after all of the hard work and then the real is putting it to the test against other objects and see how well it holds up and it really held up! Pretty epic all around in my opinion! Thanks for sharing another make it real and spending the time needed to make it look accurate. From the way I saw you holding it it looked like it was at least like 40 pounds of weight maybe more that you had to swing around just to test it. @@leonardhaworth5632 Eagle Claw is based on a macuahuitl. a weapon used by the Mesoamerican civilizations most notably the Aztecs. The obsidian blades, while extremely sharp were also very brittle and struggled to defeat metal armor worn by Europeans. Against unarmored opponents and animals it was very effective. The macuahuitl came in a variety of styles and spacing of the blades. The one requirement to become an elite Aztec warrior was to capture 20 men on the battlefield, so the broad flat wooden part was used for non-lethal subjugation. Sometimes the blades were left intentionally short and widely spaced apart so to deliver multiple nonlethal cuts, in order to wound but not kill. While these were pretty brutal weapons for the time period, steel swords still had a number of advantages including keeping a sharp edge and having a thrusting point that is better at defeating armor.

@@nyquillusdillwad9119 yeh, there were a few variations. Most importantly, they tended to knapp the flakes used to make the 'teeth' (or sometimes, real teeth). Just smacking lumps of obisidian with a hammer doesn't really do it justice, especially when there are flint & glass knappers around making traditional blades and arrowheads.

Oh my sweet James.....its okay, everyone gets it wrong. In the Nahuatl language the Macuahuitl is not said "Mocka wittle" its more like "mock waw wheat". the TL sound is not a TUL sounds, its made by rolling your tongue backwards a bit and placing the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Then you push air past your tongue like attempting to make a regular T "TUH" sound. and the air goes around your tongue making the proper TL sound

Ah yes... The all mighty Macuahuitl... Awesome design but I would love to see a more historically accurate one. The actual Macuahuitl was more like a padle made of mahogany wood with a leather grip and a lenght from 0.91 to 1.6 m. Short ones were used single handed while longer ones two-handed. The obsidian plates were not serrated or just cracked obsidian, they were polished and placed sometimes very close to create a continuous edge or separated to create a serrated one. The plates could be rectangular, rounded or even spiked for different designs and damage. There are well documented accounts that this weapons could decapitate the Conquistadors horses even when they were using a pastern. Sadly the weapon lacked more advance crafting techniques and they tend to break after some hits or the plates fell off with the use in the battle mainly because they were glued. Great video.

@robspithoff4332
@robspithoff4332 2 роки тому
Well the power wasn't contained inside the weapon so that wouldn't be so much of a problem, as long as it wasn't extra low voltage. The LEDs certainly weren't anywhere near the most powerful you can find (even for LED tape), but more powerful = more heat and in a sealed space like that with no heat sink backer it could (potentially) be problematic.

@robspithoff4332
@robspithoff4332 2 роки тому
True, I did forget about that part, though (correct me if I'm wrong) steel doesn't make a great heatsink because it's not as conductive as things like the standard aluminum. It would've been pretty simple to make an aluminum ring that fits inside the wood pieces for the LEDs to mount to that contacts the steel, though. Maybe that would be a workable compromise.
