The Flying Dutchman says that he has been the Fancy Knotting Contest Champion for the last 3,000 years, and teaches him a thing or two about knots and shows him various knots. However, when SpongeBob asks for a knot for tying shoes, he is stumped when the Flying Dutchman says that he doesn't need to tie his shoes, due to him being a ghost and no longer having feet. He even stated that he hasn't worn shoes for over 5,000 years. Also, he reveals in an episode when he died, for some reason the citizens of bikini bottom used his body as a window display in a clothing shop, so that's why he haunts the seven seas.

He is making what he wants to make; I don’t blame you for misunderstanding that though because in the ARG segments he’s constantly whining and complaining about how much he just wants to make films and he doesn’t want to make Spongebob stuff forever. Hell, he doesn’t even need to make Spongebob stuff because if you look around at the comments, the majority of people don’t even care about that. They’re just here purely for the ARG, they care WAY more about that than the theory the majority of the video is about. If he wanted to, he could stop making Spongebob stuff and be all the better for it. Just focus on the ARG. But he doesn’t, because he likes making the theories. Apparently he’s even been sitting on this theory for over a year.
