They dug out GOLD and left it there

Gold is where you find it and sometimes I happen to find gold that another prospector has dug out but didn’t pick it up. This is what happened to me on this old gold nugget patch and a good reminder of the importance to recheck the dirt before refilling the hole.

Insect repellent, long sleeves, some people choose the head nets and hats and there are very few people who try the swagman's hat with the bobbing corks. I know someone who moved here from overseas and decided to make their own swagman's hat for the gardening. She said it worked. I was born and bred here. I've never used those hats. I guess we just do the "Great Australian Salute" which is waving the flies away when we go outside in areas where the flies are in a greater number, or live where they aren't so bad. Apart from that, you just go inside to the air conditioning or ceiling fans and keep the flyscreens closed.

There is literally no way that I could handle all those flies crawling on my face, no matter the amount of potential reward or adventure! I don't even know how you two manage to deal with that absolute pestilence all the time! I'm sure that you get similar comments about this quite a lot.

Its always worth hitting the old patches again, when its to quiet elsewhere, we often return to where we've had success before, And a hundred dollars worth of Gold on an old patch is a definite success! The fly's have disappeared down my way, but watching them buzzing around your face was driving me crazy and I half expected to see you choking on one or two, you seem to have grown accustomed to there presence, I kept waiting for the fly net to make its appearance. My sister in law lived in Australia, and like you the fly's drove her nuts. They sell hats there with little dingle balls hanging from the rim. Apparently the little balls swaying around when your walking keeps the flies away from your head. I live in Canada and the common little black fly is just as bad, we usually wear deet or head nets, to protect from ticks and fly's when working or hiking in the bush. Cheer's H

Hi......Finding gold in old detectors holes used to be common when the 2200 came out...people used to detect in tracking mode.....after couple of swings over the hole the signal gets cancelled (unless its a big nugget)....so they think that its ground noise....and walk away...

Krissy if you went back and moved forward 1cm each swing while chaining you would still miss pieces. Temperature humidity direction and speed of you swing not to mention ground balance or location of earths orbit plus 100 other things that determine whether you are able to detect the gold in the ground. Please keep trying in spite of the previous paragraph and film it to share with us. Oh and please find larger pieces. Lots and lots of larger pieces.

Hi Krissy, had one of those in my video that I called Pirate Gold in the Outback of Western Australia. I just covered it back in and then hit another bit about 1.5 metres away from that disappearing gold. I have really taken on board if any wind your chances are limited especially with the 6000 in picking up on a target, especially if they are small. 😩

Hi Krissy,, glad to see you out n bout finding the gold again on such a beautiful but breeze type day, you pointed out something that might mean something to me personally, your defector getting heavy on your arm and you would need to swap to smaller defectors just so you can continue looking and give the body a break but still be looking at same time , guess i may need to look at 2 detectors cos fatigue and i know each other well unfortunately, but finding a nugget will help me dis focus on my pains

Back on the gold, if only flies were made of gold hey, it is so good to see that there is still gold on the old patches, I am still sleushing over here but the dry has arrived and I will run out of surface water soon, broke the fitting on my new pump so I am on hold for a day or so, absolute crap design and definately meant to break, just as well I was transferring water and not fighting fires with it or places would've burnt down and lawers could be involved in valid claims. I am supposed to be heading over into WA at some stage this year but haven't heard from my mate in Queensland on when he is coming through so we shall see, going looking for cattle next week and spotted the biggest wild dog and six horses on my way into the area I work on over the wet, have a good day. $110 at todays spot price ($3700 AUD) if you assume 22 Karats purity. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. 👍👍👍🇦🇺 Starting to wonder if the GPX6000 isn’t “too sensitive” where you spend all day finding & digging fly specs - instead of covering more ground and finding a 1 ounces with the 7000? 🤷‍♂️ A gram is better than no gold, can’t argue with that, & if you could find a gram every day for a month, that’s an ounce. You really need an ounce a week more so than an ounce a month tho to be viable what with fuel & food prices these days, once you take into account the cost of equipment with detectors etc.

I’ve seen and experienced a lot of disturbing things over the years but, for some reason, I was hardwired to react most negatively to flies. Specially flies on food, and flies inside people’s mouths and nostrils. My reaction is automatic and visceral. Even when it’s just on screen. I guess I’m scratching Australia off my bucket list.
